Hooray for Yuletide!!!

*grins*

So, as I read into the lovely Yuletide archive (Yuletide Madness will probably have more, but it is not up, so I cannot rec), I feel I must put some links up here for . . . well, hopefully someone will be interested!

The first one I must share with you is the one I was gifted with, which is amazingly amazing in a way I never expected. At over 10,000 words, I Think You Could Save My Life is one of the most brilliant Alex Rider fics I have ever read, and it's finished, (as Yuletide fics are wont to be, I suppose) which makes me very happy.

I Think You Could Save My Life is rated Teen+ and is Alex/Wolf slash.

Then I explored the other Alex Rider fic, finding Out of The Rain which is Alex/Fox, and 1000+ words. It is lovely and angsty, and h/c, but does have a character death.

As an extra note for the AR fandom: AO3 actually has more Alex Rider fic, from non-Yuletide sources, which I have not yet read, it being Yuletide time, but I think I actually haven't read it yet (ie on FF.net or LJ), which is a lovely thing to discover. Also, I recieved the next AR book, Crocodile Tears, from Santa this morning.

Skipping through the garden of unappreciated fandoms, we pause at The Addams Family (movie) to find the gem, And To All a Good Night which has Amanda and Wednesday in high school participating in their christmas pageant. The (anonymous) author walks the thin line between things Wednesday would never do because they are too kind, and things Wednesday would never do because they are too awful, and very hard line to tread. (I have written a small amount of Addams fic on FF.net, I assure you, it is hard.) This is Gen.

Here we pause at Being Human, the fandom I write most in, where I found the ABSOLUTE DIAMOND Stray which is arguably Gen but also arguably George/Mitchell (yay) or Annie/Mitchell, or Annie/George, Annie/Mitchell/George and there's even a line that I felt could be devoted to Nina/George, although Nina isn't mentioned. The Point is, its amazingly well written, and every other line you want to laugh or wimper over, and whoever you are, whatever you ship, if you've seen Being Human, you'll want to reaad this fic.

And then we have the two fics that have pop culture references, movies, specifically. Paranormal Pressures opens with some very in character banter between our fave OT3, followed by Mitchell helping a frantic George find a place to transform. And Of Vampire Movies and Watered Down Coke deals with Mitchell, George and Annie viewing a movie advert that hits a little too close to the "truth" for comfort for Mitchell, followed by a small amount of New Moon mockery and a more-than-friends-but-not-quite scene between Mitchell and George.

Rule of Three works with three different story lines, one for Mitchell, one for George, and one, surprisingly, for Nina. Nina, who I tend to be iffy about, as a character, is written very well here. This story, despite not going as far as the idea could be taken, (but then, many ideas could be taken to novel length if you tried) has a lot more plot than what I expected, and as such, was a very likeable read.

There is one other Being Human fic, but from the characters and the summary, it looks to be heavily Mitchell/Annie, which I won't read, although I'm sure it is well written, and as it is something for a challenge, well done to the author for doing so. (I know I had trouble.)

And, although there are probably more little fandoms I could be part of but didn't know existed, I now want to wander of and do other things (and prehaps re-read my Yuletide, *happy sigh*) so that is all I am reccing atm.

random, yuletide, recs
