oh joy

The good things about being a homeowner:

- I can paint any way I damn well please
- I have a driveway and two-car garage
- I have a yard with more space than I know what to do with
- The menagerie of animals can each have their own room
- The living space is larger than any apartment I've ever lived in
- I can buy new furniture

The bad things about being a homeowner:

- Idiot neighbors (especially those who park directly line with your driveway, making it very difficult to back out, and eventually you hit them and have to spend $500 to repair a crumpled bumper)
- I have to pay someone to mow the lawn until I finally get my own lawn mower (and learn how to use it)
- The dog disappears while chasing the cats
- Meager apartment furniture in a big house looks sad
- Buying furniture is expensive and time consuming. The cost I knew about but the time? JEEEEEEEEEZ you can waste an entire day trying to find the right couch!
- When something goes wrong, YOU have to fix it, which means paying for it

Buying a house was (and is) a good investment. It's getting it to be "me" that's the tough part since I have just-graduated-from-college furnishings....and don't know how to clean....Seriously, I was never "taught" how to keep a house clean. Domestic goddess I am not! There's so much I want to do with this place but don't yet have the funds to complete most projects. I did paint the bathroom though, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. The same day I spent the money on painting supplies, my storm door was blown wide open. It ripped out part of the interior frame! The door was never installed correctly, so it wouldn't ever close all the way. It wasn't until a windy day that something happened. Took me over an hour to get the door down because the screws were stripped, it was windy, and I was clueless about what to do and/or how to do it. I will definitely be paying a professional to install the new door though, especially since the frame came apart. I'll need to get it done soon since it will help when the temperature drops in the next few weeks!

The new job is going well. I definitely have moments of "OMG WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!?!" but I am still very new to this and still learning. I think I may have finally found a worthwhile salon and stylist, after a bad experience with a different stylist and salon out here. Chloe is adjusting to her new home but now starting to develop signs of separation anxiety. She leaves me all the time to chase a cat, go to the water bowl, or sleep in her bed, but if I'm the one who gets up, she freaks out. I'm considering a product called Thundershirt to help her out, per the trainer's recommendation. Oh yeah! Chloe finally started puppy class out here! She's doing pretty well with it, but it can be difficult to get her attention in class and even at home. She will be getting spayed in the next couple of weeks too. My little girl's growing up!

I'm really liking my gym and personal trainer. I can finally start working out more regularly now that I don't have so many people visiting and car problems keeping me from going there. I see my trainer once a week and go to a bootcamp class and two yoga classes each week. I may start doing a water aerobics class too! The yoga classes are my favorite.

This has been a relatively relaxed weekend, which was the entire goal. Today I got my car back from the auto body shop (in case you couldn't figure it out, I backed into my neighbors' car), checked out a couple yard sales (for $15 I got an electric snow shovel aka mini snow blower and two baby gates), trekked out to Easton Town Center (which was a HUGE bust and all I got was a new toy for Chloe and an "I <3 My Min Pin" car magnet), stopped at multiple DSW and other shoe stores looking for ankle boots (and only ended up with some Puma clogs to wear to yoga), and finally snagged some of favorite green tea (Green Ginger by Tazo). Tomorrow will be yoga, Target, pedicure, then home to attempt to clean. Not bad I suppose!

If you read that, kudos!
