Wed I did not not do that 3 mile run before work, can't remember why now, but oh well.. it was raining as I left work, but Susan had sent out the "swim is on for tonight" email just after 5.. the workout was at Hippie Hollow & it was BRUTAL!! there were whitecaps out there. I tried out the kaiman goggles and they did not seal as well as I would have liked, plus all the wave action didn't help. We practiced mass starts, taking 25 hard/fast strokes at the start of a race before sighting, swimming over people, being swum over, etc. I have to say I was very near panicking. Not from being swum over (cause Kim was very nice to me) but just the sheer swells of water out near the buoy line.  Deb and Tracy were late so they didn't go with us in Leary's truck, they drove in separately and started later after we'd swum probably 500 yds already. Deb was obviously in as much distress as I was, I just had a head start on her and had made peace with the fact that I was paying for this privilege and it was good practice.

Yesterday, boy was I busy!! I had PT with Pieter (well, really Lex, but that's fine) at 9:00 and I hadn't set the alarm so I didn't wake up till 7:30. No 3 mile run again!! it was a good, if painful and hard, session. not much going on at work, so I slipped out at 11:30 to Balcones pool and got in 1400 yds just before they took up the lane lines and the rain started. The original plan was to ride with Cyclopaths after work but it rained on & off, and from the yahoo group it didnt look like anybody was planning on being there, so I decided it'd be okay if I had to do a trainer workout later. After work I ran around the parking lot twice. YAY! I haven't run more than 2.25 miles continuously in a very long time. It wasn't without pain but after a few strides it became tolerable and although I wasn't "timing" it, I came in (just barely) under 40 minutes for the 3.1 miles. I was very happy with the fact that I didn't stop to walk. I stretched really well, went to HEB and got a few things, then went home to set up the trainer. I tried to come up with a workout but I guess I was pretty tired by then (it was nearly 8pm). Managed to do a 15 min warmup spin, then did 3 or 4 one min intervals where I spun as fast as I could, then 2 min recovery. this was somewhat similar to the schedule. Seemed like it took forever. I wanted to try and get 15 on the odometer but after 10 I called it good, showered and watched an episode of 6FU.

today, I'm "off" training wise. Will do a few core/strength/rehab exercises after work and get to bed early cause tomorrow's the LH+ bike ride!
