Done with the almost-yearly last-minute crazy garb sewing race!
All I have left to do is sew up two T-tunics tomorrow that are already cut and ready to go. Involves ironing and pretty fabric/thread and should be super easy after years and years of sewing T-tunics. Sleep first.
I've lengthened three dresses, expanded the arms of four shifts (with gussets, go me), made and hemmed three new shifts (with future extra arm room hemmed in -- see "expanded the arms of..."), made one apron, and cut the two tunics that are waiting for morning. The only wish-list item that didn't get made this year was loose pants for Avery, a very last-minute request. Next year (when I will also need to make a 4-6 more dresses, but hopefully nothing else). I think I finally have the hang of making garb. It's only been 15 years.
Now I get to go to sleep, and it isn't even 11pm. Also, aside from a single belt malfunction, my sewing machine has had perfect behavior. Go Singer (it's almost 100 and totally rocks).
If I can secure last-minute appointments at the orthodontist and chiropractor tomorrow in addition to an already-booked last-minute appointment at the regular dentist (all for various kids; none can wait until after Pennsic, ALL in different towns), the kids can be on their way to Camelot this evening. If not, they'll head out tomorrow evening instead. Nothing like a good last-minute runaround to get the adrenaline pumping at max before saying goodbye. I will have more than earned a quiet evening.
Enjoy Pennsic, if you're going. (And if you want to totally please me, check out the arm gussets on Ellery's shifts. They worked right the first time! I'm so proud of them.)
