When parents planned to be in blore on March 31 and April 1, I only hoped it was not a April fool joke on me. I always wanted parents to live with me for few days and take care of them, the way they did for so many years. The only chance I got earlier was when I was in Mysore and I foolishly spent the maximum time occupied with work at office. The remaining holidays that I got, we spent at my Uncle's place in Blore. Little did I know then, that time and moments were so precious and it was difficult to get them back.
After moving to Blore, I never got to play host to my parents, holidays in blore were always planned at Uncle's place. This time however, friend R and hubby were out of town in the weekend and I managed to get their apartment keys in time, so that I could get Dadda and Mumma stay with me for 2 whole days, away from the crowd and relatives planning the agenda.
I goofed up the welcome scene, bcos I reached the airport late. They were already in the airport when I was just leaving home from Koramangala. While in the auto, I was reminded how everytime, to receive me for the 430 am Chennai mail, Dad got up at 2 am and traveled to chennai( 80 kms from home) and reached the railway station well before 4 am. Not even once, I waited at the platform for Dad to pick me up. And this golden opportunity of my life time, I was miserably late.
Well, I did get punctuality advice from Dad on our way from airport to home. After our usual catching up news, I took them to Granny's, a mal restaurant near Indhira Nagar. Food was homely, though I would still rate Little Home( Kgmla) and Tharavadu( Bomanahalli) better than Grannys.
I wanted to take them out in the evening, but they were both tired and I was sad when it struck me that parents were getting older and no more could wander here and there according to my plans and schedule. Well, in the name of God, I managed to take them to
Infant Jesus Shrine at Vivek Nagar.
Sunday we had some guests visiting us and it suddenly became chaotic with a crowd in the house. After they left, we got some lunch home delivered admist our usual family chats. The visit had to be wound up and they left for the airport. I preferred to stay back at R's home for few more hours, bcos I wanted some time for myself. I returned later to my hostel hoping next time when parents visit me, I would be more punctual, and a daughter of type they wish to see me, with a happy family and a home I could call my own :)
