Astonishing X-Men #6

I grabbed the final issue of Joss Whedon's first story-arc as X-scribe, "Gifted". It turned out not to be the big climatic finale that I was half-expecting, but that's okay. Unless it was a double issue, I couldn't see how Whedon could wrap it up in a satisfying way. Instead, this first storyline is more of a prelude for Whedon's real story, which works because he's staying on for the next arc. To put it in Buffy-terms, the X-Men have yet to fight the Big Bad.

Like all the other issues, this one was great. The whole series has been special, making me yearn each time for more. As a prelude, "Gifted" was fantastic, leading me to believe that Whedon's next story, "Dangerous" could easily be one of the X-Men's best ever. I'd write more, but I'll save it for a review of the six issues as a whole. Joss Whedon is a god.
