(I never did post this, did I? Whoops.)

While You Read

For Michael Osman, beloved storkman

I ask you to read aloud from
your book on revolutionaries,
and you oblige me, the gentle
sussurations of your voice
battling the noises of the coffee
shop, so that I don't hear all the
words, and to anchor the ideas
in my mind, I end up focusing
on the movement of ( Read more... )

writing, poetry

Very romantic--the focused admiration of the beloved, without expectations. I sense that I am as guilty/as this world in the art of/wearing you down is particularly evocative. And the description is very vivid.

This is some of your best work, Andy. Bravo!

I love that last line, too.

And it means a lot to me to hear you say that. Now, just to finally show it to him. :P

I'm speechless with admiration. Such luscious words.

Really? Wait. Aren't you some kind of editor? Or was that just of science-y things...?

Well, no need to be speechless with admiration. I'm flesh and bone just like you. And not that talented, really. (Okay, I am; but one has to temper one's cockiness with realism, right?)

I dunno; enough people seem to like my work enough that I know I have an audience. And whoever judged the Newsom obviously liked it. *shrug*

I am in science and I edit. ^_^

I wish I had the skill to express how the poem affects me, how it *feels* to read it and see through your eyes, but it is difficult. Much easier to polish someone else's work.

One day I will say, I knew him when he was but a 21 y o ;-)
