Pressies!
My birthday is this week, and yesterday I got my first official present:
Glass, Irony, and God, by Anne Carson. It was sent to my by a friend in the States who knows me well. I’ve read Carson’s translations of Sappho, which are startlingly minimalist, making Sappho feel completely brand new. I’m really looking forward to reading her own work.
Also, she sent me Bob Dylan tour buttons, which is just icing on the cake. Let the birthday fun begin!
