Well, the dissertation has been good news for my knitting. I have no brain for extra-curricular reading at the moment, so I spend all my free time working on my projects. Of which there are many (I really need to figure out how to get those progress bar thingies for my blog).
The longest running one so far has been my second Zeeby’s bag. Originally I wanted to take this fugly red and black acrylic and make something pretty with it-kind of an intricate brocade look. I found an intarsia rose pattern and set to work. I’ve made almost no progress because knitting complicated intarsia on heavy metal needles with fugly acrylic makes me want to die.
So I’m changing things up. Still using the acrylic, but using some other leftovers, and I’ve decided to put robots on it instead. Robots are love!
Speaking of acrylic, the hoodie is finally making progress. I’ve got the back knit up and starting on the front now. I kind of wish the tan color was a warmer, deeper brown, but I still like the color combination. (There may be a possibility that I’m going to run out of purple yarn, but I have decided not to entertain it. I’m going with denial for now).
My Endpaper mitts are confusing me. The gauge is off like whoa, but I’ve been trying it on as I go, and it fits perfectly. I don’t get it.
Speaking of gauge, I’ve started my own
Tempest cardigan with the Debbie Bliss I bought, and my swatch totally lied to me. I’ve had to rip it out and start over on larger needles (which is fine, because these cheap metal needles I have? I HATE THEM. They’re heavy and too slippy and I hate them).
And, as if all this wasn’t enough, I’m working on socks for TD and
Veronik Avery’s Lace Ribbon scarf (the Araucania Ranco I got has a purpose, at long last!) The socks were going great until I finished the last one too soon, so it’s half the size of the other. I’m gonna have to unpick all the grafting I did on the toe. ::weeps:: But I think I may become addicted to sock knitting.
