The World's Neediest Man and the Sea

This was my first week at Brown and it's great. Right now it is hot as balls and I have the fan pointed directly on me blowing as hard as it's little heart can take, it's barable so long as I stay indoors. Outside the heat threatens to suck every ounce of moisture out of you and leave you in a mush heap on the sidewalk. It's awful.
My co-workers are great, there is one who really wants nothing to do with the rest of us but she does a good job so I suppose I'll take what I can get hehe. They are as follows:
John: thus far John has become my partner in crime, we eat our meals together and I follow him around while he shops to make sure he doesn't blow his whole pay check before we get it! He reminds me a lot of Aaron, which is always a plus. He's getting ready to start a student affairs grad program in the fall so as far as the RA obsession goes we have a lot in common.
Kyle: Kyle is a frat boy, but a really nice guy. He is technically a friend of a friend so I knew a bit about him before arriving. He's goofy and just really laid back.
Jacob: I never know whether I should be afraid of Jacob or just constantly laugh in any given moment. He has by far the funniest road rage I have ever encountered. He is the lone Republican of the bunch and we love to tease him about it. He's from Florida and seems to be having an especially hard time battling the heat without air conditioning.
Hadiza: I absolutely adore Hadiza, she is so cute and funny and sweet and for the most part innocent. She is the baby of the bunch at a mere 19 but she is hysterical! She loves to tell conference guests to "just chill, man." She is a current Brown student so she has been my saving grace when it comes to navigating this maze of a campus, they say it's small but it could swallow mine whole and then some.
Kezia: I really don't know much about Kezia. She is friendly, doesn't like to hang out with the rest of us much she just graduated from Brown and will be returning in the fall for med school. I don't see much of her because she actually lives off campus most of the time. Our personalities kind of clash...
Evan: He is technically my direct supervisor. He is really silly but increadibly organized! We would be completely lost without him, he also gives the best pep-talks ever which are super helpful when you are they way that I am...
Darlene and Jody: (Darlene is better known by her Rhode Island name among our group, Dahhlene) they are Evan's supervisors and they are amazing. They are really quirky and fun, they take us out to dinner and ice cream as rewards for working hard and are always there to support us every step of the way.
Julie: She is the head honcho and there really is no other way to describe her other than a pure BAMF. This woman does not take shit! For example she pulled her car onto the main green today and when a police officer asked her to move it she replied "Dammit Steve I don't need this shit today, it's staying there the fucking AC is broken and I have 100 broiling Doctors to worry about" She is amazing!

We are a dynamic bunch but thus far we have been working together fantastically. The comic relief is amazing! Always right on cue. That's what she said seems to be the theme of the summer, I still haven't decided how I feel about that yet, we'll see.

With this cast of characters I got to go see the ocean on Thursday, It was kind of gloomy out and cold but I was SOOOOO excited. It was beautiful! I have pictures but this computer hates me so it won't let me load them, but I am trying to work my way around that.

OH, the neediest man in the world... would be the conference head for one of the conferences we have on campus this week. We honestly lost count on the number of times he has called the on call phone. His requests range from anything from the AC being broken to wanting us to ask Dining Services to provide a better selection at dinner (they eat in the dining hall with the rest of us HA) to even asking us to buy him Natty Lite and a bottle of wine for a party. Don't worry though, Julie got sick of being interrupted yesterday and laid the smack down (over the phone from Yankee Stadium, I'm telling you, she doesn't mess around). He's here all week though and every morning when we go to check on their breakfast he has a new list of things for us to check on. OY! But it has left us with a lot of great stories and things that are just so ridiculous that we have to laugh.
I am also attempting to pick up as much of the Rhode Island dialect as I can! It really is facinating and fun to imitate (in private with other midwesterners of course) they drop their Rs a lot and a double R makes a V sound... thus we call Darlene, Dahhlene. For instance the other day I walked into her office and said, "Dahhlene, we need some mahkahs and a staplah!" It's fun!
In other words so far so good here at Brown! I love it, I am having a ball. I might get to see my bestfriend Mr. Atlantic Ocean again tomorrow I hope it doesn't stay this hot, but I love it here!
