Dear Supernatural writers: enough of the Dean/Castiel fanfic, please. If I wanted to sit through that, I'd go on the internet.
So the seasons one and two continuity fairy continues to make her presence felt, but do we really have to revisit
Croatoan? (Editor's note: wow, my Obligatory Supernatural Posts sure used to be asinine.) It was bad enough the first time. Still, they made the whole thing work somewhat better this time around.
This show has done an awful lot of "what if" episodes, and I'm not sure they're ever going to top What Is And What Should Never Be, but this one seemed decent - though my attention wandered midway through. The lack of Sam was pronounced, though - I mean, Jared made up for his lack of screentime when he turned up as Lucifer's meatsuit and acted the shit out of that scene, but still: any episode in which Castiel gets more screentime than Sam is kind of an automatic failpisode.
Still, at least the brothers are back together, Dean has apologised for being a dick, and it only took four episodes (technically three, since the split didn't happen until the end of episode one anyway). Thank God for that.
I rather like FutureDean's green coat. Anyone know where I can get one of those?

Okay, so am I crazy, or was Paris Hilton actually quite good? I mean, she clearly totally got the joke against herself and played up to it admirably, I thought. She's not going to win any acting awards, but hell, I thought she did a good job. And I just knew there had to be a House of Wax joke in there somewhere.
This was an odd episode, really - very out of line with the way the rest of the season's been going, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. I really do miss the Monster of the Week episodes, and it's nice to get one occasionally, even if it does make you think "isn't there an apocalypse you should be dealing with?"
The plot doesn't really stand up to scrutiny - I mean, it just about all holds together in my head, but only because I made a deliberate plan not to poke it too viciously. I think if I jabbed it a few more times, it would collapse weeping, but hey, this was clearly meant to be a fun episode, and I had fun - especially when, as Sam put it, Dean "got whaled on by Paris Hilton". Also, Sam being attacked by Gandhi - best EVARZ (though - Gandhi's his hero? Out of everyone in the whole world across all of time? Really?)
Shame about the missed opportunity to have a legend of classic rock come in as Dean's ultimate hero, but I guess you can't have everything. And hey, at least we got an amazing close-up of Jared's muscular arms during the autopsy scene. Thank you, Director!
And that SOON! trailer looked pretty kickass too...
