In which I am hopeless at updating my journal...

I haven't posted much of anything in the last four months, mostly because it's been NUTS. We put our house on the market back in December, so most of November involved me frantically trying to clean and organize things to make the house look nice enough for showings. And once we were on the market, I had to KEEP it that way, which is not in my Natural Order of Things.

We got an offer on the house in March, though -- the very week we'd all packed up and gone to Canada on vacation, naturally -- so the last month has been us scrambling to vacate the house, find someplace else to live, and get everything squared away for the new owner. We made an effort at finding an actual house, but didn't have much luck finding something we really liked that was in our price range on really short notice, so we had to turn our attention to finding an apartment. I found us a place right around the corner from Dom's work, and we've got a three-month lease, so we've got a bit more time to search for just the right house, now.

Unfortunately, once the actual week of the move/closing arrived, everything seemed to go wrong at once. Our apartment was supposed to be ready on April 15th, the day the movers were coming to pack us up and shift most of our stuff into storage and the rest to the new apartment. The apartments are brand new, and apparently there's been some construction and permitting delays, because it's not ready yet. We're currently in a tiny little two-bedroom unit living out of boxes and suitcases, because our move-in date has been pushed back twice already. Hopefully we'll get into the three-bedroom on Tuesday as planned, and can finally settle.

And throughout it all, I've just been getting fatter and more awkward and less mobile -- I'm 37 weeks pregnant, with only 3 weeks to go before my due date, and I'm feeling every minute of it. And in a horrific, nightmarish bit of timing, my mother-in-law -- who had come down this past week to give me a hand through the move -- came down with a nasty stomach virus the MORNING the movers were due to arrive. So I got to juggle the packing and moving, my moody 2-year-old, signing the apartment lease, and my poor sick mother-in-law -- all at nine months pregnant.

This weekend is the first one in a long time where I've gotten to just sit down and do nothing for most of the day, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. It's hurt to move lately, since I've been pushing myself so hard and there's so much of me to move, so I'm sprawling on the couch and reading for the most part; our internet connection isn't very stable, since I'm using my husband's broadband card until we get in the new apartment and get the cable modem installed. But if we can just get into the apartment this week, I'll be happy -- since Tuesday is my son's second birthday, and Kiddo #2 is due in less than three weeks now!
