Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen is tied to what is probably my best memory.
It was a couple of years ago, when I was still at Troy, and I was driving home for -- I think -- Spring Break. It was one of those perfect days: cloudless, about seventy degrees, brilliant and gorgeous in that mid-spring way. I was alone on the road, doing about sixty-five on the highway, blasting that song as loud as I could, singing along even louder, with the windows rolled down. For that single song -- that four-and-a-half-minute span -- I had no problems. No stress. No worry. No fear or concern. No thought of the future or the past.
Just me, the road, and Springsteen getting me home.
I don't think I've ever felt so light before or since. I've always liked that song, but now it's one of my favorites, because it reminds me of that feeling, that walking-on-air, untouchable, world-wide-open feeling.
Anyone else have a particularly good memory or a song related to one?
