Weekend of 26-28 March - walking & twitching in the Isle of Sheppey: Took the spotting scope (from my shooting) and cameras, and walked out on the marshes for a couple of days. A wonderfully varied place, everything from amazing shell beaches & dilapidated beach huts to tranquil marshes & estuaries to hide-dotted bird reserves. And a few really wonderful moments of light - approaching storm-clouds amid a lovely sunset. Really good, and a wonderful (and to be re-visited) pub to stay & eat at, the
Ferry House Inn.
Bank Holiday weekend - shooting competition at Bisley (very cold, but all in all a pretty fun weekend). Successful for most of the time, but with one unlucky shoot which kept me out of contention overall... Challenging, though, and a good start to the season. After that, drove Hannah back to Bath and spent an exhausting few days working and also doing house stuff in the mornings & evenings. Good progress made, though, and really pleased...
This week & weekend - Manic: Cobra MoT on Thurs, patching up last few fixes in the evening, getting paperwork and tax sorted on Friday whilst at work, then driving it to London. Forgot how great that beast is to drive... Opticians appointment in Newbury on the way to Bisley (doctors appointment now booked as advised, ho hum...) and another pair of competitions this weekend (really fun, tricky conditions, not at all serious and far too much port & drunken ramblings in the evenings). Followed by the first Bisley BBQ outside the caravan on Sunday night with Hannah. Beautiful! And driving to North London to get a little work done this morning - the train back to Bristol was a welcome chance to catch up on sleep...
Still, this is what it's like in competition season - I'd better get used to it!
