Alright, we'll pick an easy topic for my first official rant, politicians.
But not just any politician, oh no, the ones that are going to run for a higher office than the one they currently hold.
Case in point, there is a local city official named Sam Adams, who is announcing his intent to run for city mayor. Well, good for you, I wouldn't want that job, but more power to you, Sam.
The part that just irks me is when these politicians have news outlets announce that, "Tonight at 5pm at Joe's Eatery Sam Adams will make an important announcement. He will be going over his plan to run for city mayor."
That's it? That's your grand announcement? Well now that I already know that, and it is only 10am, I guess the next 7 hours of my life are pretty much meaningless. It's ridiculous.
I heard about this on the radio today and it just drove me nuts. Why tease me with a "special announcement tonight" when you then turn around and make the announcement. Now before anyone says, "Well it is actually the media that ruins the announcement." Well, then at the tail end of their story they are interviewing this guy about his bid for mayor. So he is contributing to the lack of suspense that his evening event should have had.
To me it is sort of like the end of Titanic. I mean really no one is surprised the big bath toy sank, hell, everyone knows the boat f'ing sinks.
For anyone out there that reads this crap and actually cares, if you have a big announcement, and are going to hold an big unveiling event for people, please do me a favor and wait for the stupid event to actually release your "exciting" news.
