#003: Fic Recs (Mycroft/Sherlock, Sherlock BBC)

Jan 08, 2016 21:08

This is so wrong, but man, I love it.
Mycroft Holmes/Sherlock Holmes Fic Recs

I've decided to go back to doing rec-lists, like I've planned ages ago, and here is the first one. Enjoy if that happens to be your cup of tea. Comments are always appreciated, so are suggestions (ask for new rec lists or suggestions of fics that should be added here or whatever comes to mind). If you like a fic you find here - consider leaving feedback on the story to brighten up the author's day. :)

Title: For Your Eyes Only
Author: dioscureantwins
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 6.481
Warnings: voyerism, sibling incest
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: first time, pwp, obsession, light manipulation, crass language, masturbation, pre-series, barely not under-age I think. Not season 3 compatible (ie. Holmes Parents).
Summary: He himself had cast rather a lot of furtive looks at Sherlock’s hands at dinner yesterday evening, admiring their luminous paleness curled around the antique silver cutlery. As usual Mycroft had taken great pains not to let his gaze travel any higher. His eyes had yearned to survey the final destination of the crystal water glass held by Sherlock’s slender fingers as it made the journey from table surface to his lips.

Why I loved it: I didn't love it, but I liked it dearly. I'm mostly in this ship for feels and plots, so PWP is not exactly pushing my buttons. But it is an interesting look into younger version of this ship. Also, I like the feel of Sherlock being a twat who enjoys manipulating Mycroft.

Excerpt: Christ, the shamelessness. Standing there in front of the window, perfectly unconcerned. How... how… Sherlock shouldn’t stand there to let the whole world look at him. Not like that. Like a slave in the market.

Title: Our Ruination
Author: thequeergiraffe
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock, Lestrade
Rating: NC17/Explicit
Word Count: 18.680
Warnings: incest, dub-con, under-age, drug use,
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: first person pov, pre-series
Summary: "There is an entire world between us now, and while my brother is a genius, clearly, and he's able to understand so much (and so quickly) his social naiveté will likely only be worsened by the consummation of an incestuous relationship. Even this, allowing him to gasp and groan before me as his seed runs over his still-working fist, feels like too much. I wonder if it will be the ruin of me, this little whim of mine. I wonder if it will be the ruin of him."

When Mycroft says that he and Sherlock have too much history, this is what he's talking about. (Originally published on FF.)

Why I loved it: It's interesting how it shows a long time in their relationship. It's also full of anger, games and both of them messing up quite a lot. Plus bonus - awesome Lestrade cameos in later parts.

Excerpt: My voice shaky and breathless, I manage, "Too fast," and something awful and dark inside of me unfurls at his sudden, smug laugh.

"I see," he answers, even though he doesn't see, and I've always counted on Mycroft being the only person besides myself that can. "Well, you've always been that way. A game only suits you when it's your turn and you're winning. As soon as the play changes hands you connive of some furtive means of quitting, or cheating." He stand up, smirking, and brushes the dirt from his hands (the dirt from my hands, now staining his) on his black trousers. "Very well, Sherlock. I've spent my go. Your turn. Or is the game off?"

Title: When You're High
Author: taylorpotato
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 2.308
Warnings: incest, drug use
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: phone sex, under influance of drugs, unilock, power dynamics, spanking, sexual fantasy
Summary: Sherlock likes to get high and call Mycroft in the middle of the night. Why? So they can have filthy phone sex. Why else does anybody do anything?

Why I loved it: I'm not a great fan of phone sex, it often ends up sounding entriely ridiculous, but there is something brilliant about Mycroft trying to sound so cool and barely affected. It's actually a nice look into how both of them find excuses in this scenario for what they're doing, Sherlock is high, he's not really responsible and Mycroft tells himself it's just a phone call, they don't actually touch or anything. Also, the ending is quite cautiously optimistic. I like that.

Excerpt: But he's never claimed to be a good man. In the end, he's going to choose Sherlock over morality every time. Perhaps it's best to just accept it.

Also, there is another fic inspired by this one, which describes the first time Mycroft and Sherlock had a phone conversation like this. It's An Aside To High by lookupkate. Worth checking out as well, if you liked the above fic.

Title: Five Times Mycroft Smoked A Cigarette (And Sherlock Was There To See)
Author: wreathed
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences / PG13 (though I'd say soft R, actually)
Word Count: 1.593
Warnings: incest, sort of underage (nothing happens then, but Sherlock tries)
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: pre-series, developing relationship, power dynamics
Summary: “I want to die and be remembered," Sherlock says. "You just want to live forever.”

Why I loved it: It's interesting and not as intense as lots of the fics on this list. I mean, this is less about sex - which actually doesn't happen in the fic - but about the power dynamics between the brothers and giving in to each other, though Mycroft is always the one giving in. I like how their dynamics are so skewed, on one hand Mycroft is always the one with power. On the other - he never really is.

Excerpt: “You smoked,” Sherlock says, standing by the window that overlooks the street, when Mycroft returns. “You don’t smoke.”

Even if one wants to live forever, one can still be brave.

“So many things I don’t do,” says Mycroft sardonically, and lightly closes his hand around Sherlock’s throat. (And this is almost enough, for it causes a rare look of shock to cross Sherlock’s face).

Title: Lazarus Day
Author: Jennistar
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Mature/R
Word Count: 2.204
Warnings: incest
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: durring Sherlock taking down Moriarty's organisation
Summary: They spend those two years constantly running out of time.

Why I loved it: It's always interesting to see this ship in canon timeline and this is the most interesting bit of time, because in some way they're completely alone, since Mycroft is one of the very few who know, but also it's not exactly a perfect time for a relationship.

Excerpt: One night, as he leaves the restaurant, wrestling his coat on and telling himself to walk home because he really needs to lose some weight, the payphone near him rings.

He stares at it. He is the one who rings payphones. No one else does that. That's his signature, for pity's sake.

There is only one person who would be cheeky enough to use Mycroft's own trick on him.

Title: Calculated Risk (A Two Fic Series)
Author: pt_tucker
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock, John
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 10,068 (4,565 and 5,503)
Warnings: non-con, drugged sex, incest, non-consensual somnophilia, creepy
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: Creepy!Sherlock, Sociopath!Sherlock, Dark!Sherlock, Obsessive!Sherlock
Summary: The first time it happened was an accident. Well, as far as purposefully drugging your older brother and then purposefully violating him whilst he slept could be called an accident, at any rate. All Sherlock could say with certainty is that he had not planned to molest Mycroft. That had to count for something, surely? and The second time was more opportunistic than premeditated. Well, unless you consider deliberately waiting over three hours for his brother to fall asleep so that he slip into his room and touch him inappropriately premeditated.

The fact that Sherlock carried the knock-out drug around with him daily only indicated its usefulness when dealing with dangerous criminals. That he hoped to one day catch Mycroft with it again had little to do with its constant presence in his coat pocket. Really.

Why I loved it: I have no idea, I don't even read non-cons. But there's something about completely amoral Sherlock and Mycroft not being in control. And of course, constant wondering - exactly how much Mycroft knows and allows, because he is Mycroft, after all. It is however creepy and fully focused on the rape aspect of the story, so avoid if that's not something you enjoy reading about.

Excerpt: Sherlock glanced at Mycroft at the abrupt stop, realizing he'd been caught gaging the amount of liquid still left in his brother's cup. It'd only been a quick glance, not even long enough for most people to have noticed.

Mycroft pursed his lips and very deliberately set his tea on the nearby table.

“What did you put in it?” Mycroft asked.

Title: All The Towers Of Ivory Are Crumbling
Author: daasgrrl
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock, mentions of John/Mary and maybe some unrequitted Sherlock/John
Rating: NC17/Explicit (I'd say less though, maybe R.)
Word Count: 3.725
Warnings: angst, incest
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: post-ep, post The Sign of Three, gratuitous misunderstandings
Summary: It really was just like old times, except, perhaps, that Mycroft was now all too aware of what he had already forsaken. The Sign of Three post-ep.

Why I loved it: Oh, it's brilliant. Quite possibly one of my favourite holmescest fics of all. It's just so warm and sad and full of affection. The way Mycroft cares for Sherlock and how Sherlock misinterpreted it all. Both of them so in character and actually speaking like themselves. Brilliant. Love it.

Excerpt: “He’s newly married, Mycroft, not dead.”

“As far as you’re concerned, is there really a difference?”

Sherlock was silent for a moment, and then pushed himself out of the chair and began pacing the room. Occasionally, he stopped to grace Mycroft with another glare.

Title: Introduction
Author: raregloves
Pairing(s)/Characters: Sherlock/Mycroft, Lestrade
Rating: Gen
Word Count: 2.693
Warnings: incest
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: outsider POVs, pre-series
Summary: Sherlock introduces Mycroft as his partner.

It's months before Greg discovers that they're brothers too.

Why I loved it: It's a funny way to look at it from Greg's POv and to consider that Sherlock was just probably being a little shit and he never predicted his aquaintance with Greg lasting so long.

Excerpt: Greg opened the door. Sherlock walked out, giving him a thoughtful look as he did so.

‘So you’ve met Mycroft, then,’ he said, voice rasping a little. ‘I wonder how he introduced himself? Hmmm.’

Sherlock looked between him and Mycroft, who was frowning slightly.

‘Sherlock-’ Mycroft started, but Sherlock just laughed, his mouth curling into a smile.

‘I see, so you didn’t introduce yourself properly,’ Sherlock said. ‘How rude. Where have your manners gone? Greg, meet Mycroft, my partner.’

Title: No Smoke Without Flame
Author: daasgrrl
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 2.402
Warnings: incest
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: pre-series, smoking
Summary: Mycroft held his cigarette poised between the fingers of one gloved hand, and Sherlock shivered at the thought of soft black leather against his skin. He turned his head away. Exhaled. They smoked for a while in silence, as the rain teemed and pooled around them.

Why I loved it: It's a nice view at how they had to take a step back in a way, before the series started due to Mycroft's work and all. And Sherlock being bitter and annoyed about it, nicely in character.

Excerpt: “We really should stop,” Mycroft said, exhaling.

“What do you mean?” It was a sentiment Sherlock had heard once too many times before. He tensed, instinctively preparing himself for battle. “Is that what you came here to tell me?”

Mycroft hushed him with a kiss. “No, no, Sherlock. The smoking. It’s not good for you. For either of us.”

Title: Manfred
Author: thinkpink20
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 5.306
Warnings: incest
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: -
Summary: The existence of guilt; or rather the lack of it.

Why I loved it: It's a lovely piece, once again showing us how one of the brothers tries to understand how the other thinks and misses something quite spectaculary. Here with a bonus trip down memory lane in Holmes' family house.

Excerpt: A small rattle of the key in the lock (door stiff, jammed after all this time) and then they're inside, standing in the - once grand - entrance hall. It smells of mothballs and must and traces of Mummy's old perfume.

"How tiny it looks," Mycroft sighs. "It always used to appear cavernous when I was a boy."

"You used to appear cavernous when you were a boy," Sherlock replies, and steps off the mat, brushing rain from his hair.

Title: In Loco Parentis
Author: non_canonical
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Mature/R
Word Count: 11.479
Warnings: incest, drug use, mentions of kidnapping and rape (not between main characters, though involving Sherlock), minor character death.
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: slow built, possesive Mycroft, anxiety, pre-series
Summary: Mummy places the squirming bundle in his arms. “This is your new brother,” she says, pulling back the blanket to expose a puffy, mottled face. Mycroft cradles the tiny head, lolling on its fragile neck, and for the first time he realises the power that one person can have over another.

Why I loved it: Mycroft is a beautiful, hot mess in this one and it's like taking care of Sherlock is the only thing keeping him going sometimes and I just love in-control-yet-completely-not-in-control Mycroft.

Excerpt: “Don't you think it's time you did something with your life?”

Mycroft's expecting a practised taunt, a display of casual arrogance. He flinches as Sherlock's head whips round, his expression raw and fierce. It's an echo of a pain he's seen before - only once, before he put the photographs back into the manila folder and locked it away, but it's branded into his memory.

There's bite in Sherlock's words when he demands, “Don't you think it's time you let me live my life?”

Title: Chemistry
Author: thinkpink20
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 2.730
Warnings: incest
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: pre-series, unilock
Summary: Sherlock is home for his first Christmas break from Oxford university.

Why I loved it: Once again - it's a lovely look into the games brothers play with each other. With bonus of university Sherlock.

Excerpt: "Don't disturb the net curtains, Sherlock," Mycroft drawls, and then there is the flick of a page being turned.

Sherlock grits his teeth. "How long are you going to carry on being boring for?"

Precise, careful eyes look up from the government document and Sherlock feels a brief thrill in his stomach at the intensity in them. "My apologies, perhaps I should ask the Russian first minister to wait whilst I entertain you?"

Title: In the Silence of the Night
Author: wtfs (prettyvk)
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 3.830
Warnings: incest, light bondage, fantasies including: blood, knife play, bondage
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: post-ep, post The Sign of Three.
Summary: After leaving the wedding, Sherlock goes to Mycroft.

Why I loved it: Again, one of my personal favourites. Besides the lovely and utterly messed up dynamics between the brothers, it has a bonus of dark(ish) Mycroft kept together by his own control and set of rules. And that is just a trope I adore. It's interesting and lovely wth Sherock, but with Mycroft? Ooooh. Fave. I admit I still keep hoping for a sequel or inspired work in which Mycroft abandonds his rules for a while.

Excerpt: “I think,” he says, flicking the torch off and taking his hand off Sherlock’s face, “that I’m glad you came here tonight.”

“Are you?” Sherlock is still looking at him, his lips curling up in a bitter smile. “You’ve got a curious way of showing it.”

Mycroft steps away, ostensibly to return the torch to its proper place, but mostly to put some distance between his clenching hands and Sherlock. He made up the rules; that doesn’t mean he likes them any more than Sherlock does.

Title: The Physics of Present Tense
Author: paxlux
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock, John, Lestrade
Rating: Mature/R
Word Count: 37.850
Warnings: incest, drug use
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: pre-series leading up to the series
Summary: It happens instantaneously, but it takes years. It’s like looking up at the stars and spinning around with your arms out and letting gravity take you.

Why I loved it: I admit I don't remember it too clearly, but it's a lovely look on how different Mycroft and Sherlock are and yet how well they understand each other. Also, interesting view on them letting their relationship known. Also, it's rather lovey written, the style is slow, bits and pieces sewed together.

Excerpt: Maybe its heart is smashed. Mycroft made a mechanical heart for Bear when Sherlock cut Bear open and discovered he didn’t have a heart. Maybe the bird’s heart is smashed.

He wants to see. He has scissors.

When he glances up, Mycroft is watching him with a look in his eyes, as if he knows, as if he’s sad or upset.

But Sherlock isn’t upset. The dead bird is interesting, it’s fantastic, it’s something new. His world has become just a little bit brighter, like the powders he burned the other day.

Title: Kindred Spirits
Author: daasgrrl
Pairing(s)/Characters: Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 4.088
Warnings: incest, PWP
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: happens durring the show
Summary: He startles awake as a slight draught of air washes over his face, accompanied by the rustle of clothing more sensed than heard, and he knows two things without even thinking; his window is open, and Sherlock is climbing through it. Again.

Character study with a side order of porn, or possibly the other way around. May contain traces of plot, but nothing of consequence.

Why I loved it: It is a nice PWP and also an ineresting look in Sherlock's reasoning behind his encounters with Mycroft, considering he uses them to help himself think or to kill boredom.

Excerpt: “Jealous, Mycroft?” Sherlock really is taunting him now, reverting in an instant to annoying little-brother mode. His ability to push Mycroft’s buttons is unrivalled.

“Perhaps,” Mycroft repeats, allowing just enough truth to be plausible in his composure.

Title: Anticipate, Retaliate
Author: peevee
Pairing(s)/Characters: Always!A!Girl!Mycroft/Sherlock
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 1.724
Warnings: incest, genderswap
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: Fem!Mycroft, fingering (in public), barely not underage (Sherlock is 16), prank war
Summary: Sherlock winds his sister up, and Mycroft ups the game.

There was a barely noticeable spot of blood directly in the centre of her bottom lip; she looked Sherlock in the eye before sliding her tongue out and slowly licking it off.

Why I loved it: I have a very soft spot for female!Mycroft in this ship and this is one of the best fics for it. It's almost PWP, but also full of sibling dynamics and their games.

Excerpt: Sherlock froze.

He glanced again at his sister, but her face was impassive. It was possible that there was a tiny hint of a smirk hovering on her lips but it could have been his imagination. His hand trembled against her skin and he stayed there for several seconds, unsure of his next move.

Title: Cover Me (Slowly)
Author: peevee
Pairing(s)/Characters: Always!A!Girl!Mycroft/Sherlock, Mycroft/OMC
Rating: Explicit/NC17
Word Count: 2.871
Warnings: incest, pwp, genderswa
Notes/Tags/Additional Info: fem!mycroft, pegging, rimming
Summary: “I don’t know why you persist with these obnoxious dullards,” Sherlock murmured into her neck, spidery fingers edging under her waistband.

“He had a very nice cock,” she said, palming Sherlock’s through his trousers.

Why I loved it: Same author as before, same deliciously well written female!Mycroft. This time fucking her brother. Seriously, why wouldn't I love it?

Excerpt: The uncharacteristic smile spreading on his face as he turned to look at her was half warm, half predatory and all smug, and she moved down to slide their hands together, warmth spilling up her arm from the touch of their fingertips.
