The HP help line has once again proven themselves to be actually helpful. My first laptop was a HP and in order to go on line I had to gear the modem down. I have to say that in the three months I've had my new laptop (an Acer), I haven't really had any problems with Vista except in getting it networked with my XP desktop. My desktop is just one cobbled together. It's got an HP CD burner in it (bastardised from my old HP computer), an LG DVD burner (used to be in an external enclosure). I needed to get a new hard drive as the old one finally did itself in. Maxtor hard drives and I don't seem to get along. At the moment it's got a Western Digital one in there.

I've got an external ComCast 250GB hard drive that's mostly full of downloaded shows (incl. Blood Ties & Battlestar Galactica (the latter because I had to do something to watch season 3 until the dvds came out MONTHS later - they arrived yesterday. I do love my new Acer laptop. Lots more memory and speed than my previous Toshiba laptop. A whole 'nuther long debacle, best saved for another time.

On another note, I was looking over our booklist that our resident librarian has done up for our club's online newsletter's booklist section, and noticed you've got three books coming out within relative closeness (Blood Bank & Valor's Trial [HC], along with the paperback release of Heart of Valor a couple months later).

Blood Bank is the collected short stories from the third omnibus plus the shooting script for Stone Cold, plus my blog about writing the script. So, if you have the omnibus and you read here, you don't really need Blood Bank. Although if you want it anyway, that's okay too. *g*
