Things!
- Adam and Queen performed for New Year on BBC1 and everyone - including my grandma apparently - enjoyed it, even if Dad did keep muttering about how old dudes should know when to quit and the time was now. Also today there was an interview with Adam in the Telegraph and I have so many proud mama feels.
- I went to see the last Hobbit before Christmas and oh the feels. I mean as a film it left some things to be desired (pacing, actual character development for the dwarves whose story it was, an excess of CGI where there was no need, a terrible """""comedy relief"""" character who never got the gruesome death all the terrible things he did built him up to deserve, etc) but it was still Peter Jackson and Middle Earth and Billy Boyd singing over the end credits about leaving home behind was WHOLLY UNNECESSARY THANK YOU. Also Dad and Bro went to see it yesterday and Bro's official Straight Dude Opinion is that he didn't see any Thorin/Bilbo subtext, which is clearly wrong but WHATEVER.
- speaking of which: Sansûkh was updated today and AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHJSHFJKSHFDGFJHSGFJHDGKJLFDHGKDHSKGHJFDHGKJFSLHGJKFSDGHLFDSK !!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY dear GOD
- I am slowly learning enough about 1D to consider writing fic, and by god does it feel nice to actually want to write fic again. Also the new kinkmeme seems promising, though nothing has really grabbed my interest yet.
- 2015 is looking good for other media too - Agent Carter! Agents Of SHIELD! Age Of Ultron! Call The Midwife! Jurassic World! Black Sails! Last Temeraire book! More Bitten(?)! Also Marco Polo looks like it's full of hot people fighting sooooo.
- in RL news, we have acquired a dog. He's been with us for six weeks now, and he's definitely improving, which you may think is faint praise and it kind of is but he was a shit when he first arrived, so. His name is Ben (but TBH Loki would've been better) and he's a two year old collieXretriever, which means he is very long and very soft and very willfull/y dumb. His last owners abandoned him to a boarding kennel after some financial difficulties in which dog food was the first thing to go, and apparently when he arrived he looked horrifically similar to those starved abused dogs in RSPCA etc ads. He's still a skinny bean now but it's because he's got so much length to pack the food into, and when he's being good he's a sweetheart who likes to sprawl out across my legs if I sit on the floor with him. (I will probably put some pics on tumblr soon.)
- I am currently procrastinating on my Uni work, and also my dissertation, which is stressing me out, which is making me avoid it more, which leads to more stress : |
- Bro got me several books for Christmas. I'm ashamed to say I haven't opened any of them yet, nor have I finished the two science books I got months ago that I've wanted for years. But I re-read Sansukh when I came back from seeing BOFA, and I read a really good 1D future fic recently, so uh, that's something, right? /o\
