Alright! So here is my convention report for Autumn Dream (formerly Ani-Magic) 2008! (Already off to a great start! Only 4 months late!)

Day 0: So we had decided a long time ago that Robbie (friend and co-worker at the lovely olive garden) would come with my husband Curtis and I to Autumn Dream. Previously, I was going to make a George (Paradise Kiss) costume for him, since I had never seen a "good" George costume, and Robbie totally looks the part! (minus the blue hair, of course) Well, it got down to the wire and I didn't have his outfit done, but George wears a lot of regular clothing, so we used Robbie's pinstriped navy suit and I whipped up a navy with white polka dots tie, and ta-da! insta-George! too bad the convention ended up being so small nobody recognized him. (sad...) I think perhaps George is best done in a group cosplay. Next time, though, there will be none of that! I'm going all out and dressing him up as Tamaki (host club)! The glompage at AX will totally make up for the lack of at Autumn Dream!!

Day 1: I stayed up reeeally late making bootcovers, robbie's tie, and packing. Robbie stayed the night so really early in the morning we all got up and left for Lancaster. We decided to get our badges from the con before checking into the hotel, but then even though it was time to check in, they were taking FOREVER! We waited so long in line and it was freezing! When we finally got our badges, we drove to the hotel, which was sooo nice! They were suites, so they had a mini-kitchen, and the whole place just looked like a little apartment! After doing robbie and curtis' hair-colour, We all got into costumes. Curtis and I went as Ferio/Fuu (Magic Knight Rayearth). When we got to the con, it was a bit small. This year, rather than having it all at a hotel like they usually have, it was at the fairgrounds. I think they're trying to transition to a larger con. We were shuffled to sign up for the masquerade. I didn't have any skit prepared, so I just signed up for craftsmanship. We spent a lot of time looking around the dealer's area, which was fun. Then when I had to go to judging, the boys went off to do something else. I waited in line for awhile, but when I finally got up to judging, it was totally worth it. I didn't have any reference pics, so I had Curtis go back to the hotel to grab my manga I'd brought of MKR. The judges totally loved my costume! They were totally encouraging! :D They were surprised I hadn't won anything previously, but I told them I'd made a lot of costumes, just hadn't entered any. It was such a compliment, since they were the people running the con. So when they said I had to at least do a walk-on for the masquerade, of course I did.

Fuu and Ferio!

We had lunch, looked at some AMV's, toodled around artist alley and waited for the Masquerade to start. Their volunteers were a little militant, but we all queued up and I was so nervous! I chatted with the Sailor Pluto in front of me while I was waiting. There were a lot of good acts/costumes! After they took my picture, I waited and watched the rest. We stuck around for the results and lo and behold, I won best craftsmanship for novice! I was so happy!! After that, there was a pirate rum party, but we were beat, so we got pizza and rested up for Day 2.

Day 2: There was a lolita tea party on day 2, so I wore my loli garb in lieu of costume. I told the boys they didn't have to worry about costumes, so they went comfy for the second day. I signed up for the tea, and got the boys to sign up too. The tea was lovely, the decorations were great, tea was great, snacks were delish. :9 I was surprised, a lot of people asked to take my photo. I expected it with Fuu, but this was nice, too. After that, we wandered for a bit more, Robbie bought me a Domo plush, but we were pretty tired and there wasn't much else going on. So we went home early and watched some Death Note. :D

All in all this was a fun, low-pressure con. I would definitely love to go again next year!!
