Reading Stuff
I finally gave in and am now reading all of Val McDermid's Tony Hill series (thanks to Lightcudder by the way!). It's an eyeopening experience! I'm also re-reading early Dick Francis, god, I so love his prose!
I'm writing lately again like a maniac, Sign of Aquarius (I finally managed to write the rape scene, should be up during the ongoing September issue of the Herald), Perspectives (which is the UFO gender bender I researched for) and I am gearing up to finally tackle the novel spooking around my head for a while now.
That rape scene was hard to do. I had to find a mode which would be on par with a very, very strong subsequent scene, which wouldn't be voyeuristic yet still explicit enough and honest. And of course it had to be very clear on not being titillating or rape-positive in the slightest. Both my beta-readers confirmed on that, which was a relief.
