I finished The Mists of Avalon last night and now I'm uber depressed. Fuck, man, is there anything in that story that doesn't just totally suck? Great book though. And I learned some things:

THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE MISTS OF AVALON )

Is all really fair in love and war?

And why do you even read this shit? Is it like Twilight and you just couldn't stop?

No, no it's not.

IT IS NOT LIKE TWILIGHT. AT ALL! BLASPHEMY!!!! I read it because it was great, but, dude, Arthurian legend is fucking depressing. No way around it.

Mists of Avalon is a brilliant and HIGHLY critically acclaimed novel... unlike Twilight. It has intricate plots and thoughtful themes and characters with nuanced personalities... also unlike Twilight. Comparing the two is kind of like comparing Hamburger Helper to fillet mignon.

I read it forever ago and remember liking it but somehow don't remember all these rules of life Andi found.

LOL, I read it. I read the whole series but after two parts it gets repetitive and, well, it is super emo.

The rest of the series was a terrible attempt to repeat the success of the first book by recreating it over and over in highly watered down versions that became less and less interesting as it went on. The first book, though, is brilliant and if by emo you mean it has content that evokes an emotion, I'd agree. To me, emo has become WAY too widely used a word. There's a difference between tattoo-teardrop, slit-your-wrists, black-trench-coat wearing music/movies/teens and a thoughtful book with messages about religion and society that evokes an emotion.
