Today, I spent four hours at the Women's Center with VOX, planning our counter-presense to an anti-abortion group. I label them as anti-abortion rather than pro-life simply because they are at the super-extreme end of the spectrum... I can understand and respect many people's decision to support pro-life, even if I disagree, but these people are just too extreme... especially since they spread misinformation about abortion, birth control and condoms (all of which they deem unacceptable, especially since the pill causes abortions, apparently). They even pull 12-ish year olds out of school to spout all of their nonsense alongside them. The name of this organization? The Survivors for short, or in full, the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust. What is this Abortion Holocaust? Well, ever since Roe v Wade in 1973, America has apparently been a nation commiting a holocaust against unborn children... since clearly, there weren't abortions before 1973. In any case, the meeting was really fun. Members of VOX are super cool, and we made fun posters and even t-shirts and ate yummy (and free) pizza. I'll have to get to school early on Wednesday in order to help set up, but it will be very worth it... especially to be handing condoms out right next to a group that opposes them, heheheh.
