I am sick. Cold with super nasal/sinus congestion (aka, my least favorite kind). It's entirely my fault for not sleeping and indulging a bit too much in the party scene this past fire week... damnit. I kind of expected it, and I'm still not sure I'd change much because I had so much fun, but I'm definitely not excited about being sick. Oh well. I just hope that decongestant can prevent the need to blow my nose all day tomorrow (thereby ruining my costume since it would involve smearing off all the black facepaint around my nose >.<;;;).
In other news, I realized for the first time yesterday (don't know how I missed it before) that the super tall trees lining my walk to school are poplars, just like the 10 or 20 that were in my next-door neighbor's backyard back in Livermore. What made me realize it? Well, after a week of not walking to school, I exited the parking garage yesterday (no, not the one in my building, a random one I walk through cause it's the fastest way to the bus stop XD), I was met with the wonderful sight of yellow poplar leaves blanketing the ground, and even better, the *smell* of my backyard in fall. Even though the trees were next door, our backyard was always *covered* with these poplar leaves, which have a very distinct scent. Fall is my favorite season, and probably the thing I like least about San Diego is how much we don't have seasons. However, some trees do leave their leaves during 'fall' down here, and thankfully, poplars are included. Needless to say, I got plenty of strange looks walking around school yesterday since I took one of the leaves and stuck it behind my ear... and with black hair, the bright yellow really stuck out. But that was great, cause it just reminded me that it was fall, and I get to walk through those leaves and that smell to school every day now :)
