First of all, I hope that all the mothers on the flist had a blast!
Today was an excellent day.
naiad8 made some excellent blintzes (crêpes with cottage cheese filling and boysenberry jam) for breakfast. We then went to the farmer's market in downtown where we got some excellent strawberries, pretty good cherries, and plum tomatoes. The funny thing with strawberries is that my dear son will only eat half of one if the leaves are still attached He has a thing against eating or even touching green food. I have to take out all the leaves so that he'd eat the whole strawberry. It's maddening and cute at the same time.
After the market we went to
Vasona Park in Los Gatos. Alex absolutely loves that park, as it has a small-gauge railroad and a really good playground. But today he decided to explore more and "found" the river and the lake. Spring is definitely in full swing because all the ducks and the geese are waddling around with ducklings and goslings. The lake was full of boats, both rented as well as private ones. No motorized boats are allowed, so it's quiet and serene. Alex really wanted to go on one of the boats. We had to strongly persuade and distract him away from hopping on the boats.
We got home at 4:30pm. After resting for a bit, I made a nice mother's day dinner for my wife. We had tomato bisque, steak, carameralized carrots, and herbed spaetzle with pancetta and mushrooms. For dessert we had some of the cherries we got earlier, as well as a pit-spitting contest in the backyard. I found out that my ability to curl my tongue (which my wife can't do) is perfect to create a barrel to launch the pits. So I won :P
So it was a tiring, sunburned, but happy day in the 盧 household.
Hope all yours were excellent too!
