Winter Wonderland

Feb 24, 2008 08:53

We got back last night from spending three days holed up in the snowy Yosemite National Park. We had a great time! We rented a nice cabin high up in a development of sorts called Yosemite West high up from the valley floor. I think our cabin is at 5700ft whereas the valley is at about 4000ft. It was high enough that it snowed quite a bit. The place was absolutely lovely.

Alex loved the snow, both for eating and playing in! We brought a blow-up sled and we all took turns in it. OK, Alex got pulled a lot. We pulled him a long the gentler slope of the road while we went down the 20 to 30 degree wooded slope behind our house. The only downside is having to trudge through the snow back up the hill. Or pull Alex back up the road the one time we took him down the steep slope.

We also took my mom with us. She's never been in the snow and we weren't sure if she was going to like it or be grumpy. Fortunately she loved it, even trying out the sled. Still, a *big kiss* to
naiad8  for putting up with my mom's idiosyncrasies.

And here's the picspam:
