¡Olé!

Hope everybody had a good weekend.

It was date night on Saturday. Alex was with the grandparents again, so the wife and I went up to San Francisco. We were still sick so we really didn't do much other than walk around the financial district and went to dinner. We went to a swanky little place called Gitane. It really reminded me of Europe because it's tucked away in a dimly-lit alley and laid out like very cramped Parisian bistros. Almost like a speakeasy in how hidden and how underground it was. Tens of thousands of tourists would walk right by it and they wouldn't have noticed.

The food was quite good. We got bastillas, croquetas, cordero lamb chops, and quail. The quail was a bit of a disappointment but the rest were great. We shared the dessert which was an amazing white chocolate cheesecake with cooked pineapples.

I also had a really great Earl Grey to finish the meal off. I love non-Asian places that have good teas. Tea's complexity can rival that of wine and it's about time it gets recognized.

So we got Alex back home today. Apparently the soap we sent with him gave my mother-in-law a bad allergic reaction. I threw that soap away (it wasn't Alex's usual soap, just a backup that I got when we ran out of the regular soap).

Anyway, Alex goes back to school tomorrow. He's asked about school in the past week so I think he'll be happy that he's got school again.
