puttanesca and polenta

Feb 19, 2018 18:13

As I mentioned yesterday, I didn't care for the curry last night, so I decided to make puttanesca and polenta. I was introduced to this combination at my last job, where they used to serve it fairly often. Despite my dislike of straight-up tomatoes (like slices in a sandwich), I do enjoy them when transformed with other ingredients (like pizza sauce or salsa). I have, however, always thought the name puttanesca sounded dirty, and while searching for a recipe, I discovered that it apparently translates to "in the style of prostitutes."

This puttanesca sauce had such excellent reviews that I decided to try it after looking at only a few others. The recipe sure seemed to need a lot of olive oil, but I followed the directions. I have not used anchovies before, but I am excited to try them. I have always liked them but haven't had much cause to use them. They smelled amazing sauteing with the garlic and pepper flakes. The recipe is actually for stovetop, but I decided to try it in the pressure cooker without modifications.

Omg this was amazing. Absolutely making this again!

I also made more pineapple cake today with the rest of the fresh pineapple ^_^ I used 75% of the original measurements and it turned out just how I wanted.
