Making my way to the Summer Palace was a much easier affair even though I was given a bus number that wasn't at the bus stop that the hostel told me to get off at. They told me to get off at the zoo to connect to the 332 bus to Summer Palace. There were literally about 6 different bus stops within the space of 200m and NONE of them said 332. So back to my little directions and looked at the chinese characters for summer Palace. Even though memorized the time it takes to actually recognise it took me a further 20 minutes haha. the 732 bus it is and away I go. We pass about 5 different 332 buses on the way to the palace and yet I will never know where to get that bus. If you can tell me I don't wanna know. Really.

Well worth the trip and my second and only blue sky day I was going to have in Beijing it turns out that the Summer Palace (with a clear sky) is hands down the most beautiful temple/palace/park I've been too. Not only were the sites fascinating in their own right but the views you had were truly amazing. A mountain with a pagoda fronting it and navy coloured mountains off in the distance silhouetted by the sun. Stunning. EXCEPT! my camera ran out of batteries the moment I took a photo of the entrance. Devastated! The photos of the summer palace you may have seen on my face book were taken on the last day in Beijing when the pollution had well and truly eaten away the stunning views from accross the lake. Oh well. I enjoyed the views from accross the lake and you might never see them unless you come here yourself. haha it's good to rub it in.
