Oh god, YES. I agree so much with you. The only time I ever rode in a coach was in Tyrol when I was 8 or 9, with my dad. But we were out in the open field, no city, no cars, no pollution, nothing.
I feel so bad for them every time I see them ;_; It's such a horrible thing to do to them. And the Fiaker are seriously overpriced as well.
Would you mind if I reposted this as a quote in my LJ? I need to warn my f-list as well <3
I actually just wanted to rant about it, you may quote it but please be careful and notice that I was just extremely surprised, how blind someone acts that uses to love horses. Just because it is a childhood dream. The most her afterwards-reaction irritated me. But my hope stand that she sees it now.
I too did it, as a child and the horse did that just for the event and 2-3 hours. Not for 14 hours a day, 365 days a year with no sun or grass. What does it help, that the stable is at least clean (which many are not) if they know nothing but straw and asphalt under their hooves? No natural daylight then what they are allowed behind blinder? How do you want to know that a horse is okay by just petting it? Maybe there are some lucky ones, but surely not in Vienna.
