Heres part 2 from the previous entry
Now lettin go of PEOPLE is one thing, what about THINGS? HABITS?
as John Lennon said: "....Imagine no possessions...."
OK...... here's my take: Sometimes we are so addicted to things and most often we do not realise that we are addicted to things. Or we dont care. Smoking for instance: We start as social smokers, progress to occasional smokers, regular smokers, heavy smokers, then we become dependent on it. And regardless of whether or not we CAN, most often we just do not want to. A common saying is "I can quit anytime i want" but most often we cant or just dont want to.
Alright, being a smoker i realise how hypocritical that musta just sounded, but heres my point.
When do we realise we are addicted to ...... say.....
Porn
Sex
Masturbation
Kink
Britney Spears
Food
Drugs/mushrooms/morning glory seeds
Alcohol
hurting people
Self-Injury
Self-Pity
Arrogance
Microsoft Products
or even
LJ *gasp*
most people dont even think they are addicted, most just say that its jst a bad habit/ phase im going through. Now.... if you cant get out of that phase or cannot remove the bad habit at one try, then you have an addiciton at hand.
My definition of addiction: the inability to differentiate the desire from the item. FOR EXAMPLE.... if everytime u think of cigarettes u feel like having a smoke, thats addiciton. There is really a difference. Now when you cannot differentiate the two... you pretty fucked.
Put all your bad habits in there.... see how it fits. Can you NOT do it when you think of doing it?
The only question you might ask me now is "so whats wrong with addiction"
welll thats for another entry
:D
