I've gotten lunches packed, dishes washed, helped youngest with her birdwatching assignment, taken the kids to school, walked the dogs, started more laundry and am considering making a stab at breakfast. And it's only 9:30, go me!
Today I'm going to go into the office a little bit later in the morning.
Everything's prepped for my 11:30 class on the economy and society of Bronze Age Sumeria. I am so grateful for having spent some time this summer reorganizing my preps -- now all of those are back in order so that when I finish one class I just drop the file back into the cabinet when I return to my office and bring out the next to my desktop standing file for that associated class. And since I will be back in after dinner to teach my evening seminar, I don't really feel bad over stealing a few morning hours at home. Especially since next week I have to give up these same two hours for training on the new content management system for our university website which is rolling out about two months behind schedule. Go them (not)!
This morning I helped youngest with her school assignment of birdwatching. Do you know how tough it is to help a perfectionist identify little golden brown birds? We have a "Birds of Ontario" book and I went through all the sparrows, wrens and other small birds with her trying to find something which she would agree looked like the bird she saw. We settled on "generic" sparrow. The chickadee was easier.
- mauve boatneck top with 3/4 sleeves
- machine quilted vest (blues, purples, greens)
- irridescent oxidized titanium drop earrings
- navy trousers
- navy ballet flats
I love the vest and earring combo. They belonged to my mother (she had quite a collection of these lovely vests she'd made) and whenever I wear them I feel closer to her.
Well, I'm going to be virtuous and cut this short, make my breakfast and try to get a few more things settled here before reporting for teaching duty. Since it's now nearly ten (eep!), I'd better get a move-on!
