okay, I need to kvetch

So my pastor emailed out a youtube video that is awful and said in his message that he endorses what the speaker is saying (the title is enough to tell you the gist without wasting your time to watch it).

Several things bother me about this:
-The addresses this email was sent to were in the BCC field, so I don't know if he sent this to the entire church or if specific people were targeted (so far I only know that I and one of my friends received it, but she's the only one I've talked to about it--she messaged me last night to ask if I'd seen it). Normally he just puts all the addresses in the To: field, so it's clear who the message was sent to, and the fact that he didn't this time... The idea that I may have been targeted for this bothers me more than I can say.
-GOD IS NOT A MEMBER OF ANY PARTY. There are things on both sides that God would support, just as there are things on both sides that God would condemn. Each Christian must weigh the issues and examine each candidate to decide which one to support at any given time. A SINGLE CANDIDATE/PARTY DOES NOT HAVE A MONOPOLY ON GOD.
-The stances on issues like abortion and same-sex marriage endorsed in this video imply that all of America should be adhering to Christian values (and the fact that people don't amounts to "persecution", omg *headdesk*). Do I wish abortions didn't happen? Absolutely (health of the mother excepted, of course). Do I believe that outlawing them will fix the problem? Good God, no. Let's try making access to birth control universal, let's try forcing insurance companies to cover women's and children's care more thoroughly, let's try advocating for better parental leave and better workplace support for parents who need to care for sick children, let's try reducing the incidence of rape. If these social conditions are improved, women will be more likely to carry those unexpected pregnancies to term. And let me ask you: which party has been supporting more of those improvements? It's certainly not the Republicans!

*deep breath* There is so much more I could say about this, but I need to go to work and I think that's sufficient for now. Perhaps now I can stop fuming about this. :-p
