how time flies...

At some point today, I was reminded that today is the 20th anniversary of The Two Towers coming out (!!).

TTT was the first time I'd gone to a midnight premiere (I've still only gone to... two...? maybe three?), so I re-read my entries from that date, which was fun. I mention wearing a homemade fan t-shirt that I'm pretty sure I still have somewhere, and also that Bri and I had hoped to make cloaks but couldn't finish them because we were sick the weekend before; mine was finished and I wore it to Trilogy Tuesday the following December (and still have it and break it out periodically for special occasions!). Bri's was never finished, and possibly was never even started, lol. And the WIP I mention in the second entry . . . is still a WIP . . . *cough*

TTT was also the first time I was super invested in a movie coming out. I came to FotR relatively late (my first viewing was around Bro's birthday in late March), so TTT was a new fan experience in a whole host of ways. It's mind-boggling that two entire decades have passed since then, wtf, and also that I've known some of you that whole time. The absences from our group are especially palpable on days like this. ♥

The girls and I are doing well. I have three days of work this week, then I'll be off through January 2nd, woo! Trying to get to where I feel like things are at a point where I can pick up again after the break has been a bit of a trial; nothing earth-shattering or anything like that, but it's definitely annoying to feel like the number of things I'm having to juggle is increasing rather than decreasing like I'd hoped. *sigh*

I'll be spending the holiday weekends with Bro, with the few days next week back home to chill or do touristy things if the weather is amenable (my hope is to pay my first visit to the National Zoo, for example), but we'll see. I'm 100% sure there will be at least one day of 'sit at home with the cats, eat shrimp, and read' on the agenda, though! Somehow that's become something of a tradition for me. :)
