lovely times with friends
As shirebound already posted, I went and visited her and Miss Pippin this weekend! I had never before driven through either Delaware or New Jersey, so it was an adventure that expanded my horizons a fair bit, ha. And I finally met the sweet Miss Pip! And saw Shirebound for the first time in a number of years (like, eight or ten?).
It was a lovely visit and I'm so glad to be close enough for a weekend visit to be reasonable. We shall definitely have to do it again. ♥ And yes, I won handily at (movie-focused) LotR Trivial Pursuit, lol, but I made up for it in providing tech support. ;-)
I journeyed home Sunday midday-ish, unpacked, and went to dinner with my two local friends C and D at a place that's part of the Washington Harbour, which I had seen from across the river but never been to before. That was also quite nice, and I'm sure I'll wander around that area again in the future.
The less-happy part of my recent activities was yesterday, when I attended the funeral of a former colleague from my Maryland job. She had cancer and died last Monday, and her son texted me to let me know. I had meant to contact her to catch up now that I'm back in the area but hadn't done so yet, alas. But I was glad I could rearrange my onsite work days this week in order to attend the funeral. I'm glad she's not in pain anymore.
Most of all, it reminds me that lovely times with friends are absolutely a thing I want to make sure I do whenever possible.
