Well, at this rate I'm definitely not going to make my 'post at least once a week' goal for the year, LOL.
I've been doing all right. My back is bothering me a bit, perhaps because I've been trying to be more active since the weather is nice (and also because my weight is up and I don't like it, bah humbug, but my TSH is too normal for my new GP to be willing to raise my meds dose). But it was also rainy and damp there for a bit, and sometimes my back likes to pretend it's a weather vane, ha.
I was hoping to use Bike to Work day on Friday to do the inaugural ride to work, but the weather was suddenly HOT and giving myself heat stroke would not be a good way to get myself to repeat the ride in the future, lol. So I haven't done that yet, but I still intend to make that a regular thing once I manage to get started.
Since my last post, I've been to the National Cathedral twice. The first time I went for the midday Good Friday service, which was lovely (and two hours long! I wasn't prepared for that, ha). The second time was last Sunday for a Cathedral Choral Society concert of Verdi's Requiem. Ohhh, so good. The
Dies Irae in particular is so much better when heard live, especially in a setting like that! And the program had their schedule for next season, so I've already got a couple of things on my calendar, now I just have to get tickets when they go on sale, whee.
My friends C & D and I did an escape room a few weeks ago, which was fun. We get together pretty regularly again, now that I'm back in the area. :) (For those who weren't around/don't remember, we're friends from when I lived in Maryland in 2008-2012, we all attended the same church. While I lived in Illinois we Skype chatted about monthly, but of course it wasn't the same.)
I've been down to see Bro several times, too. We went to the new Doctor Strange movie the first Saturday it was out; that movie is definitely a change of pace from some of the other Marvel movies! Haha.
Also, I joined a local orchestra! It's part of the continuing education program through the local public schools. The director is delightful and the music is much more, um, approachable than what my old orchestra typically tackled. The players are, by and large, also not as skilled, shall we say. So I fit in. ;-) The concert is at the end of June, and in theory I should have no problem being able to play all the music by then, so that'll be a nice change (there were always parts beyond me in my previous orchestra, which was good for learning but also got kinda demoralizing--why practice if it's not going to matter anyway?).
Work is going well. I'm still getting used to the ebbs and flows of the workload, but that's to be expected. There's one ongoing project that I won't be sorry to see the end of; hopefully that'll be basically wrapped up by the end of the month. That's the target, anyway!
So yeah, I think that's the basic run-down of what I've been up to since my last post... I do check on my f-list periodically, I just don't always feel like I have much to say and/or I don't want to spend yet more time on the computer in the evening, when I already do that all day for work. :)
♥ you all.
