I have a few of things to post about over the next few days, namely Big Bad Con, a new XP system for Dungeon World that a few of us have been trying out, and the Apocalypse/Dungeon World hack that I've started working on. But first, some food porn.
Earlier in the evening at
Figaro, I had a plate of escargot and a glass of
Trefethen's excellent 2009 Dry Riesling from the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley. It had a delicious hint of kerosine on the nose, so I knew we were going to get along nicely! At any rate, it made me think about food, and with the cupboards almost bare, but just having baked this afternoon, I made myself a pork & caramelised apple sandwich:
I sauteed the apple in sugar, water and a touch of paprika (I seem to be out of nutmeg and cinnamon), then added a splash of
Kraken rum for the caramelisation. It's as good as it looks.
I'm drinking
Bridge Burner Special Reserve Ale from Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, which is perhaps a bit strong to be a perfect match for the pork and apple, but is still a good drop with a hoppy nose and a malty palate. I might try A Perfect Storm (at the bottom of that Kraken review above) later this evening.
What are you all eating and drinking tonight?
