OK So we all know my alcohol tolerance is abnormally low considering im fucking irish. But really, i didnt think it was as horrible as it apparently is.
Last night we were counting down to Joey's 22nd bday at a cute little place with cheap cocktails (15 yuan a piece which is less than $2).
It started out ok, we were drinking pretty slowly from 10pm-11:30pm. I had three drinks in that time period: a grasshopper, a singapore sling, and an around the world. At some point we had told the bartender that it was joeys bday, so at 11:30pm he brings over a "cake." Hahaha....the chinese rule. The "cake" was actually a fresh fruit platter and five flaming B-52s (there were five of us). We then ordered a round of tequilla shots for the actual midnight toast and headed off to The Corner Jazz Club (or cjc as we call it) where every foreigner under 30 hangs out on the weekends. When we get there we discover that tequila shots are on special, and as i had previously made the mistake of telling everyone its the only thing i like taking shots of, Ben bought me one. This probably also relates to the fact that although I go out with them, I dont usually drink, so they thought this was great. And it was....for about 20 min. Then the room started spinning and I do mean spinning. I have never, ever felt so unstable in my life. I couldnt walk in a straight line, actually I couldnt walk without leaning on something, even if you offered me a million dollars.
So I decide enough is enough and I'm going to leave. Ben and Joe (not Joey - they're two different guys) helped me get a cab, which was really nice. When I got back I had a really long walk by myself in the dark and the rain to our hotel. This is when I discovered I apparently have the ability to be a crying drunk. Damnit....I promise never to make fun of Nathan again...ever. Well...at least for that. At least no one was around to have to put up with me. Finally got back to my room and threw up lots (at least in the toilet...go me) and then apparently passed out with my glasses still on and the room lights still on (Andi - my roomie - informed me of that this morning).
Although I've been tipsy quite alot, and even vaguely drunk once or twice, I can safely say that was the first time I have ever been wasted. Holy crap. Never ever again. Once was enough thanks.
