See, and now the level of your amusement makes me feel like I ought to be laughing too, but I'm just baffled.

Seriously, what?

It's more of a sardonic kind of laughter.

It's actually disturbing that this man is an active part of our government, yet can be so misinformed as to call the internet a "series of tubes," and then cast a vote in a decision which he is clueless about.

Right. It's not hey-this-is-cool funny, it's hey-I-want-to-kill-myself funny.

Okay, I can dig it.

Pee es, if you're expecting me to know and understand every side of a given issue, you are really setting yourself up for disappointment.

I hope you know it's okay to let me know of a different angle without making it into a matter of me being inconsiderate, or selfish, or whatever. Especially when I was clearly just ranting.

I wasn't saying that it's necessary to know every side of an issue - I was saying that you should know other points of view before you criticize something, otherwise you're indirectly saying that your opinion is the most important, to the point that others should not be considered.\

It was more the blind contempt for whoever the comments were directed to that bothered me.

This is kind of silly, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, because while it doesn't matter with such a trivial issue, if you have that attitude with something so trivial, it's extremely likely that you'll keep the same attitude when speaking about more important issues.

But I don't think it really was criticism. That's a word that implies that I know a lot about.. whatever it is, that I'm in some position to make a judgement. Honestly, that was just frustration. I had a headache from the air conditioning, I was frustrated. End of story. I don't feel this contempt that you are reading into it. I had no idea that a more moderate level of air conditioning could possibly cause any sort of issue; as far as I knew it was purely comfort-based.

Side note: pointing out an unintentional, backhanded disrespect with an open disrespect seems a bit hypocritical.

Explain how I was disrespectful?

also, "It is TOO COLD. What is wrong with you?" is rather contemptuous.

I have Our Endless Numbered Days, The Creek Drank The Cradle, and The Sea and the Rhythm. I'm actually listening to them right now. But I'd be interested in hearing this CD.

So how many blank CDs do I owe you now?

Was it? I'm sorry. I didn't notice. Although I think my awkward meter may not be on as high as it is wont to be.

Next time, I will attempt to fix the awkward. I swear.

By the way, if I don't get all those books back, you are a DEAD MAN. This is not like borrowing money. ;)
