i think the university was voting about the president yesterday. not us; faculty and staff. Important people, if you will.
speaking of, it was also the first time i've ever actually seen the president on campus. I mean, i assume he's around because he supposedly works here, but. yeah. he was leaving.

long, long day.
debated whether or not i could get away with taking my comforter to my first class because, quite frankly, it's freezing. I didn't. But i did go to lots of trouble to not sit at the very front of the class, only to break into groups and end up at the front again anyway. despite my best efforts.

not drinking enough water.
but i got my chai latte for the first time in a year. yappari, no one does it quite as yummy as the MUG.

my left shoulder hurts. ;_;

a short break in which i ate lunch; home by 12 to study for the tango quiz which ended up being on monday. she told us it was today; she believed it was today; the schedule said monday, so she let us off.
I had to ask for a recommendation letter for Georgetown's graduate program in the linguistics department for 'practice' in class.

met up with aliza in the galleria, went to leavey to try and buy some posters to spruce up the very very bare white common room walls. We were not very successful because i had to meet my language partner at 3 back in ICC. That's when i got my chai.

we'd never met before, so I went to the MUG in ICC and, lo and behold, there's a girl with a denshi jisho reading an english book. So i excused myself and asked if she was the person i was looking for. She was not. how very embarrassing.
so i decided to get my latte and i'm in line when a japanese lady doing the "I'm looking for someone" body language shows up. It was my person and we went to the back of the line. The guy standing right behind me (who looked totally Irish) apparently speaks Japanese because he's like "you were in line ahead of me, you can come back up" in weirdly accented but decently understandable japanese. how weird is that. Ok, not really in the ICC, but still.
So i have a language partner. totemo ii hito mitai yo ne. yokatta ne^_^
Today was all in Japanese; we'll meet twice a week, mondays and tuesdays and do one language a session.

Off to senior seminar and i'm really going to have to focus down from my theme to an actual thesis, i think.
Then to my other japanese class (which shall henceforth be known as integrated), which is actually pretty easy compared to koyanagi sensei and ueno sensei last year. jishin aru. well, we'll see after the first quiz at least ne.
last class finally over at 7:40 pm.

called aliza on the way to the dining hall like i was told to. it was really hard to not say "moshi moshi, nikki da kedo" because i'd basically been doing japanese today from 1pm onwards.
food, home, short accidental nap. I've been listening to Kelly Chen the past two days. for one thing, she's got a lot of ballad-type songs. For the other, well, it's in Cantonese, which seems to be the only language i can sleep through easily.

out to 80's night twice with only partial success both times. maa. kore de ii jan. yoshi to shiyou.
