back from the land of the (internet)dead

So my family came into town last weekend and I promptly fell off the face of the planet. sillyandmorbid was heading back to her lab at uni and insisted on some nikki!time. i did manage to meet rocksizedheart for our monday study session but bailed rather at the last minute on wednesdays (see: joys of pubtrans). Other than that, basically all schedules i normally have and all plans people tried to make just didn't happen. The only thing was my lunches were tastier and I got to work on time every day this week (which is impressive when they happen in conjunction with each other. by myself i can usually only manage one or the other).

I did manage, however, to completely lose my mind and sign up for a fic challenge. I don't know what's wrong with me sometimes. I mean, ok, I hit the 100k mark early-mid july or so, but i swear, the last 30-40k consisted almost entirely of 1-sentence drabbles. I've not got the best track record lately in terms of, idk, actually finishing things.

jianjian: I like nikki's purple couch!
annie: usually it's brown

Dad came Thursday and the sleeping arrangements got more complicated. before 2 people slept out on the futon in my living room, and myself and another person slept in my bed in the bedroom. With dad, who goes to bed early and can really only share bedspace with one person, the futon got moved to a corner in my bedroom where it didn't have quite enough room to lay flat, 3 people got my bed, and one person got the couch. I also got off work early thursday.
Dad also brought down a plastic bag with about 3 cups of potting soil in it (so now my basil plant looks much less pathetic) and the first tomato of the year from our plants (which was very sweet of him ♥)

Tuesday, the only real day i was going to be home 'early' originally, I was late 2 hours because my train broke down at Farragut west. after waiting for half an hour for it to get cleared off the tracks and the platform getting steadily more packed, I gave up and got out and took the bus, which of course meant traffic. That was a very long commute, particularly because it usually takes about half an hour.

annie: it's like laying on a person laying on a cloud!

Sometime I went to the american history museum with mom, jianjian and annie after work. I can't even tell you what day that was at this point. I liked the train section a lot. the rest of it was kind of like '\o/ machinery! um. ok. now what?' there was a cool display full of toasters through the ages and i want them all. I will have so! much! toast! it'll be great! There was also a haunted wheel of death! sillyandmorbid and I were looking at how ominous it was, and then the lights just in that section (as in, right above it, the only display object in that corner) started flickering and we skedaddled.

nikki: D: b-but. i liked that shoe! a lot! and also, without it i shall have to walk lopsided :( you know what this means, right? now i have to do battle with the shoe monster and wrest my shoe back!
ro: Godspeed

Friday, we waited for tego to get off work and then all jumped in the car and got stuck in traffic on the way to the Chelsea vs AC Milan (that's soccer,
Bean) game in Baltimore. We were parked about as far away from our seating section as humanly possible, but whatev. The game was a lot of fun! It's better in the stadium ne~ It was an exhibition match and neither team was playing their hardest, but it was still a lot of fun, and chelsea won so that is good! The ride home was much faster and less traffic-ful.

Oh, also fun cartimes, the AC in the car we took broke right before dad drove down to DC in it. After Dad and sillyandmorbid left Saturday for MA, shenron118, mom and I spent the day doing errands and stuff (mostly involving food), and the automatic doors stopped being automatic. This is particularly problematic for the person sitting in the back seat, because the inside handles are not really designed for, well, being used to actually open the doors, just to trigger the auto-open. So! probably the car is suffering some electrical problems, which, i imagine, can get serious pretty quickly.

I have all kinds of tasty food! Particularly fruit. I've got lychee and longan and mangos mmmm. Other than that, annie brought down the play station and we finished up kingdom hearts and made some significant story-line progress on FFX, which have been on hold since we don't have as much time together these days, and we're only allowed to play when the three of us are all there to watch. Mom also brought down (and is letting me borrow!) the wii, so i've been having fun with wii fit the last week, when I'm not exhausted.

shenron118 and mom left early this afternoon T_T. My kidnapping attempts were unsuccessful.

hey guys. read this. A Haven in a Heartless World. It is, well, it's a novel really, and i read it in one sitting. It's amazing. Spoilers for season 1 of supernatural.

疲れてるけど, 寂しがりやじゃない, i am so weak, quotes without context, the jianjian, tv, food, nikki no baka, with the doom!, america, this is not my fandom (yet), annie, my god is an awesome god, mi familia, teh internets > my sanity, sleep, classy shit
