Nikki doesn't really like her much.
Originally, Peyton starts bringing her around to all the gatherings; apparently, she's one of Peyton's co-hosts on the many radio shows that she does. Appearance-wise she's a nice girl, petite and bright, but something about her rubs Nikki the wrong way.
It takes her a bit to figure it out, but once she does, she can't go back to sleep and ends up calling Peyton.
"Hello?"
"It's the way she looks at Pi."
"...hah? What the fuck are you talking about? It's four in the morning, stupid."
YamaPi, who sleeps like the dead, hardly stirs at the phone conversation happening next to him in bed and only tightens his hold around Nikki's waist.
"I know why I don't like Kami. She looks like Pi like she's interested."
"...oh god. Is this going to be like that one time when you drove that Rhey girl away because she asked Kamenashi-kun out?" There's a pause as Nikki's hears a groggy male voice in the background and Peyton tells Kei to go back to sleep. "You really need to deal with your jealousy issues, Nikki. It's not like you can keep them both."
"Why not?"

Then Sarah showed up.
A friend of Jimmy Mackey's, she gets introduced to Kame by Jin one night when they are off clubbing in Roppongi and Nikki is off being banged by YamaPi in Shibuya. They were set to meet later than night after Kame finished having his fun and needed a Nikki nightcap.
Nikki waited all night. Kame only comes home just as Nikki is getting ready to head off into the morning train rush to get to work.
He apologizes, she brushes it away, dismissing it like it's nothing. It's not like they are exclusively dating after all. She's not bothered at all.
Nikki cancels her lunch plans with Peyton and instead rides YamaPi in his car. She feels a little better afterward.
They don't officially meet until a week later when Nikki decides to go clubbing along with the rest of the gang because Peyton and a few of the other girls are going too. Even across the dim, smoky club, she can make out Kame's figure against the bar taking a tequila shot and some wide-eyed blonde girl saddled up next to him, chatting him up. And he's actually drunk enough to be playing along.
"Nikki?" Peyton's close enough to be heard over the blasting techno music. "Are you okay?"
Nikki can't even bring herself to answer and instead she runs out of the club.
(wtf. at this point, i don't even know where the hell this is going. leave it to me to make it angst.)

A hand slides onto her shoulder and she automatically jerks away, losing her footing. The hand moves to quickly grab her arm, keeping her upright, and Nikki's silently grateful but she can't bring herself to look at her savior because she fears who it is.
"Nikki," YamaPi gently prods. "Why don't we go home?"
The two go home, and strangely, there is no sex. She curls to one side of the bed and YamaPi comfortingly spoons her, asking nothing more of her.

Kame's clearly hungover, resting his head on the cool marble kitchen counter, pallor a bit pale and eyes barely open. YamaPi's standing on the other side of the island, eating from a bowl of cereal.
A part of Nikki wants to reach out and comfort the sick Kame, but another part still remembers the sting and hurt of what she saw last night. She neither advances further into the kitchen nor runs away. She stands still.
"You're awake." YamaPi smiles at her, and gives a small smile back. She loves YamaPi's smiles. So rare, but so genuinely beautiful. "He's here for you." YamaPi motions to beached Kame.
"...ughh, not so loud," Kame moans, slowly lifting his head from the counter.
Nikki resists the urge to frown at Kame (for fear of becoming like Peyton). "You have fun with your friend last night?" she asks cavalierly.
"I didn't do anything with Sarah," Kame insists, holding his hand against his head. "Really. You can ask anyone who was there. Even Peyton can vouch for me."
Nikki shrugs, letting his heavy words just roll off her back. "Then what were you doing?"
"Getting myself drunk enough to ask her how exactly I should go about fixing up a threesome with my girlfriend and her other boyfriend."
Nikki blinks, narrows her eyes, and then looks past Kame at YamaPi who's finishing off his cereal. "He's serious. He came over, banging on the door, practically screaming it in the hallway."
Nikki can't help but softly snicker at the thought. "How unlike you, Kame."
"This whole situation is totally not like me," he returns, and Nikki finds herself impressed with how coherent Kame is despite his ugly-looking hangover. "But I want you. And I'll do anything to keep you."
For the first time in a long time, Nikki thinks she might be speechless. She's wanted this for so long, but never really known how to it fix it (and admittedly, been lazy about it). And now, it's happening, that is if...
"Pi?" She looks back to YamaPi again.
YamaPi sets his bowl down and shrugs, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips. "You've always said competition was good for the spirit, Nikki. This could be very good for our spirit."
