woke up 20 min before my alarm (i went to bed late, so i was afraid I'd oversleep and miss class), totally disoriented, certain I'd overslept by 40 minutes and in a panic. By the time i realized that the clock read 7:40 and that I meant to get up at 8, I was pretty awake. So I had enough time to pack myself a lunch.
i like when other people get on conversations with each other on my journal ♥
my desk is the absolute coldest part of the room. it's always so cold. but then i get up to shower, and it's so nice and warm over by the door. it makes me want to take my computer and huddle in that corner.
it's really, really cold out. reallyreallyreally. *shiver*
i woke up with weeeek playing in my head. i think that basically sums up my day.
IPA 'quiz' in P&P. notice the quotes. Because it took 40 minutes. It, well, it could have been worse. I didn't really study for it. Um. yeah, not really. So. It could have been worse. It definitely could have been better. The first 5 were awful--listen to nonwords and transcribe. blegh. The rest was just rote memorization, and while i didn't study, i do have most of the chart memorized already, so.
l'esprit d'escaliers: how i live.
let's see. late for my first class--the bus was really late (ok, not really. only like, 10, 15 minutes, and they've stood me up worse before. but this morning was colder), so i missed my train (and i think the next one even), and then missed the guts bus. Fortunately, the next guts bus came soon, even though it didn't leave rosslyn for another 10 minutes (maybe more. i took a nap) or so. So i was about 15 min late for class. oh well. i don't think i missed anything that was actually important.
i have a love-hate relationship with human social interaction.
and LangID was a lot of fun (even though everyone was drinking their coffee like they wished it came in IV form). Not my turn to present. I didn't like the article i'd picked for the mini!presentations, but. meh. whatev.
And Jackie's article was incredibly interesting. About the signs in DC's Chinatown. If anyone wants citation info, to read it, let me know. It's not very long, and (except for some of the quotes) a very good read. Also, there are lots of pictures.
i spent most of the trip home daydreaming about my leftover fried rice, which i kind of just inhaled. :D which leaves open the question of what i will eat tomorrow. D:
