So, apparently, I get NHK. channel 196. It's half in English, though. And half the programming seems to be idiotic (from the 2+ hours I watched this evening), but. The news would probably be good for me.
It was fun, though, because my mother's on one side of me, reading the kanji aloud in English (trying to piece together what's going on) and Annie's on the other side, reading out all the hiragana at the bottom of the screen (because she's been practicing), to the point where I can't even really hear what they're saying all the time. But probably the most awesome part was that my family who speak no Japanese basically at all sat with me on the couch for 2 hours watching tv in Japanese just because.
問題：these days it takes me a little bit of time to switch into "japanese" mode, and with their 半分英語・半分日本語 programing, just about the time I start getting into the swing of things, an English-language program comes on.
