I got a book in the mail today~ I would be excited, except it's a textbook. ;_;
and, i think that the school bookstore actually gave me the wrong book for one of my classes with my prepaid order. So I'm going to take it back and argue with them tomorrow. that's gonna be fun. :|
needed my coffee to get through the day, but after that it was mostly good.
phone died early in the day, leading to a lot of missed-communication.
that RA-ship looks like it's just not going to be. I don't know whether to be upset because it was my last ditch attempt at getting some help with tuition; or to accept it because it means I'll have time to actually do all my homework.
I read one chapter of my reading today in my downtime at school. This is exciting.
Had awful mishaps trying to meet with the girl I'm supposed to interview for ethnography of communication. But it's ok, because we were actually supposed to meet tomorrow. So we'll just meet tomorrow.
Totally will not have those dates translated by tomorrow. I am so full of *fail* i don't know what to do with myself.
And I spent all that time rushing to get the Akasaka overviews done in time for the AUG 30 deadline, turned them around 1:30 last night, only to get an email saying "yeah, we're running behind, so the website won't be up on sept 1 (in japan) after all." which means that I didn't actually have to rush so much, and I might have gotten the dates done in that time instead. grrr.
randomly talked to a lot of people today.
Was utterly amazed with how many lx people are absolutely socially awkward when it comes to small talk. I guess I was too busy feeling awkward about my own ineptness in the past to notice, but really. You'd think that people who study talking all day would be better at it.
Was late for my first class by a little bit, which wasn't ideal as this prof knows me; but the class seems like it will be both interesting and not impossibly challenging. We'll be doing a lot of the things that would otherwise scare me together in class, so I feel like I've got something of a safety net. I will, however, have to work my arse off to get that participation 10%.
The Japanese lx class (Issues in Acquisition of Japanese) looks absolutely AWESOME . I am so frikken excited for that class it's ridiculous.
There was also a nantoka reception in the lx dept tonight, so I stuck around for it. I was a little early, actually and helped slice cheese into bite-sized pieces to go on crackers. They were the most erratically sized cheese slices in existance. ever.
But I got a free dinner, and that is exciting.
