I didn't know what they were either until I saw one in the apartment (courtesy of anamuan saying, "Oh look, it's a silverfish!" and me saying, "What's that?"). It was not my favorite discovery of my college life.
DC has cicadas every year, right? Back home they only come around once every 17 years. Of course, they coat everything then, in two or three layers of giant bugs, but I figure I could just manage to be absent one out of every seventeen years or something.
This won't help but I kind of wish I lived nearer so you could theoretically have called me to kill it. 'cause killing a bug produces a feeling of success that is fairly similar to doing well on a paper. In any case, I clap for your success in that matter as well as with regular work!
I didn't realize killing bugs left you with such a sense of satisfaction. but it would have been hard for me to call you even if you did live closer, as I was kind ... of locked in the bathroom at the time.
