Watching all the things - Warehouse 13

Dec 18, 2011 15:06

To be sincere with all of you (if anybody actually reads these things) I wanted to write about this like 2 weeks ago. But like always RL was not very good to me. So, instead of writing this, and maybe something more, reading all the great fic out there - on both the applecart and reel!pilots - and getting ahead - hopefully beyond 1965 - with Dr. Who, I ended up writing like 2 scientific articles, 5 yearly reports both on financial and scientific sides, finding out that my advisor apparently “needs another chapter” before I defend my thesis and grading endless piles of test, reports and midterms. Btw, if any of you meet the person who invented midterms please send them my way. I want to have a word. Every year it’s the same - I hate midterms now as a teacher more than when I was a student. And one would think that I got used to it in the last 8 years since I crossed the proverbial line.

Anyway, going back to my strange custom of watching 30 shows at once - I
said something in the title about W13. So, about 2 weeks ago I actually
managed to steal 1 and a half days and got up to date with this show.
Last time that I watched before this was while I was on Ferrara and for
obvious reasons - like being distracted by JC and all - I only got to
the end of Season 1.
For those who don’t watch this - for me it’s
nice because it’s a little procedural, a little scifi and a lot on the
funny side. They don’t do the obvious stuff but always manage to make me
laugh. The whole decades old machineries, and random mentions of
scientists (like Tesla and Edison, just to mention a few), that not
saying anything about H.G. Wells because that would be too spoilery.
And
there are two lead characters who - at least for me - don’t do the UST
thing. And strangely that’s a good one. Maybe because it’s slightly
different from everything outthere? I mean, Myka says in her letter that
Peter is like her older brother and that doesn’t seem off at all. And
then there is Claudia who is supposed to be the kid here but sometimes
is more mature than all of them. Btw, is there one person who doesn’t
find Mrs. Frederic spooky? She’s like a supper Gibbs or something.
And
there is the time-travel stuff. For something sort of “related” - there
were a couple of cross-episodes - with Eureka, I expected a different
approach on this. But I guess that technological time-travel and
artifact  time -travel are different. Well, all in all it was a great
ride and I expect - not so patiently for the new episodes. I’m really
curious as to what are they going to do with the title now that W13 is….
spoilery territory again.

on another note, I managed to sneak a
couple of Dr.Who episodes every week - but I’m still in 1965, OUAT is
getting better and better every-week  - even if they killed the hot
sheriff and all the other shows that are not on winter break yet are
going on pretty nicely. Well except for Dexter who is confusing the heck
out of me but that’s another story.

I’ll end this by saying
that if I have time this month and if nobody is going to shoot me in the
head (or throw vegetables at it) for trying to do it, I’ll try my hand
at writing something that it’s not a page long rant about RL and the TV
shows that I watch. That is  - I’ll try, not promise to actually be able
- to contribute for once with more than comments to the fandom.

random, tv series, all the things
