Okay, so. This is a post I've been meaning to make ever since Kala and I got super into Nick and Demi. Because like, I want to flail about them and everything, and normally I attempt to get other people into things through pimp!posting, but honestly that's not even what this is. I think this is a ship you're either going to love or hate and a lot of that has to do with what you think about bro code or other shipping preferences, so I don't know how to change anyone's minds there.
So this is post is literally just why I love them, and at the very least you can check it out and determine that they have the most adorable friendship in the fucking world. Because they dooooo.

Guys, you know how much I love Nick. Like, you probably wish you didn't know sometimes. SORRY. OH WELL. I love him so much, and I want to see him happy. If you pay attention to the Jonas Brothers at all, you probably ALSO know that Nick isn't uh, the most inclined to smile. Well, at least not to smile with teeth. He's got the smirking thing down pat. But there's this thing about Demi that makes him light up like a fucking Christmas tree.

So they all worked on her first album together, but...I'm just going to take a wild guess and say that Nick helped with most of the actual songwriting stuff. When it came time to work on her next album, Demi didn't work with the Jobros again, but she did write a song with Nick.
Obviously a huge part of the reason she loves the song is because of how personal it is and what it's about, but I love that such an amazing and gorgeous song came out of them writing together.
They performed Stop the World together at soundcheck in Toronto and Montreal, ugh, and I can't even handle how natural they look performing together.
Also how fucking cute Nick is when he's trying to make her laugh.

The amount of respect they have for each other as musicians is really beautiful. I'm going to post a giant twitter thing in the next section which like, half of it is just Demi gushing about Nick's music. And he apparently once called her the most talented singer he's ever met.
He even came out to support her at the We The Kings show even though she was only going to be on stage for one song. Because he loves watching her sing just that much....and also loves her just that much. BUT THAT PART COMES LATER. (*cough* Nothing against Joe, but uh, he was dating her and he didn't come to the show. But Nick did! OKAY THAT'S THE LAST TIME I'LL MENTION JOE BECAUSE THIS IS NOT ABOUT SHIP WARS OR ANYTHING.) You can kind of see that Nick is standing backstage with her before she comes out
They clearly love creating music together, which makes a lot of sense because it's the thing they both care about most in the world. They share this incredible passion for songwriting that is absolutely gorgeous to me, whether they're just friends or something more. I think they both need that in a relationship, someone who understands when you just need to pull out a guitar and write down everything you're feeling. They're similar in terms of the way they use songwriting too. Both of them are incredibly guarded people - Nick in his quiet, reserved way, Demi in the way where she puts up this mask of a smiling, dorky girl - and the only way their walls really come down is when they're writing songs. Because they share that, when they're writing songs together, it means they're letting each other into an incredibly personal space. Which is just...wonderful, intimate, and amazing.
Because they have a genuinely close friendship

There's something so beautiful about this picture to me. Like they don't have to be talking, just sitting near each other is enough.

They genuinely just seem to love being around each other, talking or high fiving in a ridiculous way or having the more serious moments. When I look at Nick and Demi, I'm reminded of the way Kala and I are around each other: we never run out of things to say, we can be complete dorks or have incredibly meaningful conversations, and everything just flows so easily. One of my favorite love stories is friendship developing into something more, best friends who fall in love with each other (surprise, right) and that's what I see with the two of them.
Because he takes care of her
This has not been an easy time for Demi. Joe broke up with her before tour and is now dating a girl he seems to be incredibly into. She's had to still get on stage and sing a duet with this guy who broke her heart every night, and she had to do all these interviews with him like, immediately after they broke up. Nick has been trying so hard to make sure she's comfortable, that she's not left out of the interviews, trying to smooth over any awkwardness. He takes care of her, they're friends, he doesn't let the drama affect what they have at all.
Even if you haven't watched any of the videos I've posted so far, watch this one, because it's amazing whether you just think of them as friends or as something more. For whatever fucking reason at the beginning of tour, they brought the Camp Rock people and Demi back out for Heart and Soul, despite the fact that they have nothing to do other than stand around looking awkward.
LET'S REVIEW. Nick dances around cutely and ignores Joe announcing anyone else's name, but as soon as Demi comes out he quite literally goes \o/. And once he heads over to the middle of the stage, he keeps glancing at her until he finally just...runs over and talks to her and you can see her mouth "Thank you!" because SHE CLEARLY FELT SUPER AWKWARD AND HE'S SAVING HER FROM THAT. And they keep laughing throughout the rest of the song, and please fucking take note here that Nick "hugs are overrated just fyi" Jonas won't let her leave the stage without a giant hug first. He's also smiling like a giant fucking dork the whole time. But the point really is that he knows she's not feeling great, and he does something about it. No hesitation.
There are like, a ton of interviews like this, but I hate watching them (THE MTV INTERVIEWS IN PARTICULAR MAKE ME WANT TO DIE) where there's awkwardness and Demi is kind of left out because they're mostly talking to the Jonas Brothers. There's the moment here at 1:17 where Demi starts to answer, and then realizes the question is for Nick and tries to pass it to him, and he's basically just all "No, no, go ahead," just like, really sweetly. There's another moment in this press conference where they're being asked about Spanish words they know and Nick is like "Demi should take this one!" He's so very good at including her even when the press and Joe and Kevin are...kind of pretending she's not there.
The big thing that's making me freak out right now is that as soon as they started the South American leg of the tour, something happened and Demi unfollowed Joe, Kevin, Papa Jonas, Garbo, and some other people on twitter. Papa Jonas took pictures of everyone on the plane to Mexico except Demi, so clearly shit went down. But Nick is still friends with her. His entire family seems to hate her and he just...doesn't care. He hangs out with her. When they're on a plane together they tweet at each other:
Fucking adorable. AND I JUST LOVE THAT DEMI CALLED HIM THE SHIT. WITHOUT ACTUALLY UH, USING THE WORD. Cutest, best, flawless biffles etc. But the thing that's really important to note here is that he said "many years to come." Guys, he's reassuring her, basically, that no matter what's going on with Demi and the Jonas clan, their friendship will stay intact.
The thing about Demi is that she hasn't had a lot of guys treat her well. With all of her self-esteem issues, with the kind of guys she hooks up with, I don't think anyone has genuinely treated her with the kind of respect and love she deserves. Nick already does. Just as a friend, he's constantly making sure she's okay. Can you imagine the kind of boyfriend he would be with her? The boy who tells her she's beautiful because he can tell she's insecure that day. The boy who would put his hand reassuringly on her back when the press is asking questions that make her uncomfortable. She deserves someone who would support her like that.
It frustrates me that Nick is never going to say anything to her. She may think of him as only a friend right now, but with how grateful she is that he's still her friend through all of this, I think she could very easily fall for him if he just fucking said something. But he won't. He fails. AGH.

This is my favorite video. :52 - 1:12, Nick is heading over the drums for Video Girl, apparently spies Demi sidestage and goes over to talk to her, basically HOLDING UP SOUNDCHECK which...Kevin and Joe point out. Meanwhile, Nick's touching her hand, possibly commenting on her rings (she does this cute little head tilt, like "aw, thanks") and like, when he finally moves to go to the drums, he's got a huge smile on his face.

I think it started as just this crush. Like Demi's really pretty, and he has eyes, and she's just so super enchanting and talented, how could he not have a little bit of a crush on her?
Yep, he thinks she's really cute.
But we would have known that anyway, since he keeps checking her out like that.
Yeah, story of them, really: Nick looks at her like he's super in love with her, Nick hugs her, and then...Nick stares at her ass.

Sure he had this tendency to always look at her, but like. It really did just seem to be him having an awkward crush.
...a really, really awkward crush. The good stuff starts at 1:20, where Nick jumps up to give her a hug as soon as she enters the room (a good minute before Joe and Kevin stand up), switches couches so he's sitting next to her, and then scootches closer to her like a giant loser at 1:52.
Let's see how long you can run that Don't Forget joke into the ground, Nicky. No really, it's adorable how dorky you get even just when she's mentioned.
But this summer, this tour, I honestly think Nick's feelings have gotten a lot deeper. I think he loves her. I think the way she makes him happy isn't something that just a friend does for you.
He's completely aware the minute she walks up behind him, but like, him looking back at her wouldn't mean anything if he didn't immediately look down like "Shit, shit, was that obvious" right after.
Skip to 1:36, and he's totally aware that she's come up behind him again, and waits for her so they can do a dorky low five thing. I JUST WANT TO POINT OUT AGAIN THAT THIS IS NICK JONAS. Like, how many people do you see him act like a giant dork around? Not even his brothers bring this out of him all the time. But she always, always does.
UGH THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HER. "I got the sparkles from Nick"
This is so great, they high five at :11, and then...I don't know, she reaches out to touch his back? And he's apparently so startled that he almost falls over and has to grab on to her hand?
Then there's this whole thing he does where whenever she comes out to do the duets, he stares at her a lot.
There are even videos where his head turns to follow her as she walks across the stage. Yeah.
KALA MANAGED TO CAPTURE THIS PICTURE OF HIM STARING AT HER ASS AT ONE OF OUR SHOWS. High five Nick, it's a good ass to stare at.
At the very end, 7:56, Kevin says Nick's birthday is coming up, and Nick very insistently says that Demi's is first.
This is my favorite video. :52 - 1:12, Nick is heading over the drums for Video Girl, apparently spies Demi sidestage and goes over to talk to her, basically HOLDING UP SOUNDCHECK which...Kevin and Joe point out. Meanwhile, Nick's touching her hand, possibly commenting on her rings (she does this cute little head tilt, like "aw, thanks") and like, when he finally moves to go to the drums, he's got a huge smile on his face.
The thing about it is that I spend like. Hours and hours of my day staring at Nick's face. And the only girl he's ever looked at or acted like this around is Miley. Not even Selena, a girl he actually dated for a long time, got him smiling like this, acting like a giant loser.
This boy looks at this girl in this way. That's why I ship them. I think they could have something beautiful. More importantly, with their friendship, I think they already do. ♥
I'm going to end this with two things. First, the video that made me fall in love with them. It's totally cheesy and totally wonderful and I cry a lot while I watch it, so. Enjoy.
