Some time ago I found an LJ community called audiography ... from which I've been downloading things for some time. Well, I finally put something on there -- I'm not sure what compelled me to do so. Perhaps I'm trying to reach out more. Or something. Anyway, I thought I'd share these gems with you, too. So here you go!

The theme for audiography this week has been "Top 5 At the Moment" -- in other words, what are some of the songs you're listening to the most at the moment? What follows, then, are some of the most-currently-listened-to-and-liked songs from my collection.

Enjoy!

1. Trentemøller is a Danish musician of the highest order. I discovered him -- and this song, actually -- through the Aurgasm blog-list-thing. This is his Wikipedia entry. This particular tune is deep (to me) progressive house, with two crescendos and a whole lot of passion.
Download link for Take Me Into Your Skin
Visit label Poker Flat Recordings to buy stuff. That should work. If not, try his MySpace page.

2. Back several years ago when I heard that mp3.com was dying, or at least transforming, I went on a one-man crusade to save it. So for the month that I had, I obsessively downloaded all the music I could from them. I think I ended up getting at least 18 gigs of music. A good bit of it I have yet to listen to. But this one I did listen to, and am still listening to several years later. Of course, I have a soft spot for anything baroque. It's by dogsounds, and apparently they're back on mp3.com, at least the Australian version. This song, Allegro for Four Harpsichords, is not on there, but some of the song titles are the same. Buy stuff at the mp3.com.au link above.

3. I don't really remember where I first heard of Jon Jenkins -- maybe from the same mp3.com thing. I really don't recall. But Blood and Water, the soulful electronic piece just might well break your heart. It's brought me to tears more than once. Buy his stuff from the label Spotted Peccary.

4. Speaking of things Baroque, this brings another tune to mind -- Steve Erquiaga's remix of JS Bach's Prelude in C Minor from The Well-Tempered Clavier. I'll admit I have another soft spot for classical remixes. Heck, I even have a whole category in iTunes devoted to that sort of thing. Anyway, Steve plays a beautiful solo guitar, and this piece is utterly beautiful.
Download here, and buy from windham hill here. OMG -- the label seems to be defunct. I am very upset about this! So buy here instead.

5. I've another soft spot for thoughtful electronica, and John Stanford fits the bill for me. His recent piece "Do you Feel the Same" -- it's new to me, anyway -- can be downloaded here. Interesting ... his website redirects you to a myspace-ish page, upon which this song is not, and there's no buy links. Hm! Well, this song is definitely John Stanford -- has his style all over it. I loves it.

Anyway -- please enjoy!
