Suddenly...
So I was reading the New Yorker at lunch just now, and happened up on a random bit of writing advice - that you should never, ever write the word 'suddenly'. I thought to myself that surely the person giving this advice must be insane - surely, some things really do happen suddenly, right?
And then I started looking through this fic I've been working on. I'd used 'suddenly' 4 times in 4000 words. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized that honestly, things probably aren't actually all that sudden. And I started thinking...maybe it is a filler word after all. So I took them all out. And I don't think I miss them. :D
