'Shazam', 'Wonder Woman' and a 'Flash' / 'Green Lantern' Team-Up Movie Coming Soon?
A new rumor suggests that six new DC Comics movies will be announced in San Diego this July for Comic-Con 2014, including 'Sandman' and 'Man of Steel 2'.
Nikki Finke is back on the scene with a new website and her first order of business is exposing Warner Bros. and DC Comics plans for Comic-Con 2014, which includes the announcement of 6 new movies that will be released between 2016 and 2018. These include the long rumored Shazam! and Wonder Woman stand-alone movies, the Sandman adaptation, the super hero ensemble Justice League, a never before heard of team-up featuring The Flash and Green Lantern and the true Superman sequel Man of Steel 2. Here is the rundown in order, and when they are expected to be announced.
May 2016 - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
July 2016 - Shazam!
Xmas 2016 - Sandman
May 2017 - Justice League
July 2017 - Wonder Woman
Xmas 2017 - The Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 - Man Of Steel 2
There is also reportedly talk of a Metal Man adaptation and a Suicide Squad movie, which would have both been released in 2016, but those have since fallen off the table.
Nikki Finke also claims that the reason Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was delayed is because it needs to act as a launching pad for Justice League, which slowed down production.
A source close to the project blamed the delay on setting up cameos for future films including those seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . This is what they had to say:
"Like Marvel's The Avengers, there will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern [not played by Ryan Reynolds, thank god] may be introduced. And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn't want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months. Seemingly simple reason, but the implications are pretty darn huge."
Is any of this true? Or is Nikki Finke just looking for a quick way to promote her new website? There's no quicker way to make a name for yourself than a hot comic book scoop whether its true or false. What do you guys think?
